About the adventure
If you are a beginner, this campaign is the ultimate introduction to Dungeons & Dragons 5e! The rules of roleplaying games and D&D specifically will be introduced in a learn-as-you play setting, easily avoiding any overwhelming feelings you may have. Additionally, there are pre-made characters in the game if you wish to jump right into the action! Or if you wish to create a brand new character, we can set up a time to walk through that process (which is honestly one of my favorite parts of the game!). For more experienced players, this challenging campaign will give you the chance to explore the Forgotten Realms and bring your character up to level 5! Feel free to use a pre-made character found in the game, create one from scratch on your own, or set up a separate time to walk through that process if you are unfamiliar (again, one of my favorite parts of the game!). Below is a brief description of what your characters are doing as the game begins: "The characters are in the city of Neverwinter when their dwarf patron and friend, Gundren Rockseeker, hires them to escort a wagon to Phandalin. Gundren has gone ahead with a warrior, Sildar Hallwinter, to attend to business in the town while the characters follow with the supplies. The characters will be paid 10 gp each by the owner of Barthen’s Provisions in Phandalin when they deliver the wagon safely to that trading post." Easy, right? Maybe not... The companions quickly get thrusted into a race to uncover the secrets of a legendary ancient mine in the area. As they get closer to their goal it becomes increasingly clear that there are others interested in the mine and the secrets within, and will do nearly anything to find it...

Gameplay details
Gameplay will all take place within Roll20. With the intuitive Roll20 character sheets, all skill checks and combat will be as easy as clicking a button! We will also be using the purchased Lost Mine of Phandelver module, which brings the best maps, information, and tokens possible to the virtual tabletop. I usually begin a session with a brief summary of what happened in the last session, bringing any absent players up to speed and reminding recurring players of their current situation. Once we begin, I like to maintain a good pace while also ensuring everyone has equal opportunity to participate in any encounters. The ultimate goal for every session is to have fun! Since we will be following the formatted adventure, there is a good balance of exploring, combat, and social interaction. However, I am OK with taking on more or less of one of those aspects at the request of the players. Again, it's all about fun!

How will character creation work
All characters at the beginning of the game will be level 1. For beginners, I suggest using the pre-made character options that are included in the game. They already exist within the Roll20 server and players will be able to view and choose which character they want prior to the first session. Alternatively, if players want to create their own character, we can set up a session to walk through that process from start to finish! We will use the Charactermancer within the Roll20 game to create a new character. Experienced players may create a new level 1 character as well, which will be reviewed for accuracy prior to the first session. Also, if you have a level 1 character already made in another format, I can import that character into the game.
Players can expect
- Combat/Tactics: Medium
- Roleplay: Medium
- Puzzles: Low
- Experience Level: Open to all
