About the adventure

Fateforge is a setting for the Fifth edition of the world’s most popular roleplaying game. It’s an epic fantasy setting inspired by sword and sorcery epics. It’s a colourful setting of grandiose landscapes, exotic civilizations and ancient mysteries. In the setting of Fateforge you are fate chosen, those awakened to incredible powers that set them apart from the rest. For what purpose, that is yet unknown but as shadows grow and a mysterious dragon cult spreads over Eana, the world needs the fate chosen more than ever. While a lot of Fateforge will be mechanically familiar to those that have played D&D there are some additions, particularly in the way that magic works. We’ll be using the epic fantasy ruleset along with some of the darker elements with relation. This should give the game an epic feel, you’ll be starting at 3rd level, already awakening to some of your power but still allowing plenty of progression. You’ll be starting off in the Free City, looking for the mansion of a local scholar after reviving a letter from them in which they claim to be able to tell you all about your “Great Destiny” and that you may very well be the only thing that can stop a most terrible threat to all of Eana. So, no pressure there, right? Games will be run on a bi-weekly basis on tuesdays over discord and astral tabletop.

How to prepare

I would download the players guide available here. ( ) This should give you a bit of an intro to the changes made in Fateforge as opposed to vanilla D&D 5e. You are also going to need to sign up for an astral account, a free account is perfectly fine, and you will also need to download and set up discord so you can join the server. A microphone or a headset is needed to be able to join in the game. Dice are typical D&D 5E dice if you want to role dice physically rather than using Astral's inbuilt dice rolling system.

What I provide

I will be making custom maps for the game, tokens and sometimes artworks of various characters you might meet along the way. I will also be using various soundtracks to bring the world of Eana alive.

Gameplay details

Fateforge is very similiar to standard D&D but with some mechanical changes making both the setting and the player characters feel more epic. In this campaign you will be tasked with fighting a terrible threat that threatens all of Eana. You will be delving into the mysteries of Eana and the Fateforge itself as well as learning more about what it means to be a Fate chosen. A typical session of this campaign will be between 3 and 5 hours long with a mixture of combat and roleplaying elements. Some sessions may have more combat and less roleplaying while others might be more socially focused, asking you to use your wits instead of your blade. We'll be using Astral tabletop to play the game and use maps and tokens for battle sequences and dungeon crawls. We'll also be using a private discord server to communicate and also to allow you to roleplay between sessions.

How will character creation work

You'll be starting at level 3 and character creation will be done during the first session. Having a concept in mind for the start of the first session is great but please keep in mind that there are changes and alterations to classes and races as well as a completely new race in Fateforge. Character creation is very similar to that of D&D but with a few added steps, for instance you can craft your own background. When it comes to using books outside of Fateforge I will accept them on a case by case basis, just to make sure that it fits in the setting of Fateforge. Most of D&D 5E fits, so there shouldn't be too many problems with that.

Players can expect

  • Combat/Tactics: High
  • Roleplay: Medium
