About the adventure

My adventures always have either a mystery to solve or a Big Bad Evil Guy/Girl to vanquish. I enjoy tactical combat and dungeon-crawls, and my stories tend to subtly hint that something bigger is happening beneath the surface. In D&D 5e, I mostly stick to the Forgotten Realms, but I'm more than capable of crafting original settings. My games are for all kinds of players. If you're new to the game, I can teach you while we play. All adventures will begin with a Session Zero, where everyone makes their characters together and talks about what they'd like to see happen. I then craft a custom adventure based on this input. While character death rarely happens in my games, it is possible, so come in with that in mind. Players who make a nuisance of themselves will be spoken to privately first, then kicked from the group if the behavior continues. I always have a reason for everything that happens, and am never out to "get the PCs". I'm the DM; I want to see the players succeed, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna let them.

Additional Details

How to prepare

You will need Discord and the latest version of MapTool installed (both are free). You will need a good microphone (webcam optional), a stable internet connection, and to be able to play in an environment without much background noise. You will need any program that can edit and save form-fillable PDFs (like Adobe Acrobat DC).

What I provide

Everything in these games is digital. Dice, character sheets, tokens, maps, everything. Players wanting physical materials must procure them. Rolling real dice is allowed during gameplay only if I can see them. If you have original artwork that you'd like to use for your token, you can provide it to me.

Gameplay details

All games are played online, using Discord to talk and MapTool to play (both are free). Players are expected to keep track of their own characters, and to adjust their own HP using the in-app stat blocks. Adventures contain a lot of death and violence, as per the nature of combat-centric games, and some stories have mild sexual and/or racist themes (D&D racist, not real racist; "Those damn goblins!"). Scenes are treated like encounters, and a fight could break out at any time. I like to record my sessions so I can make videos about them. At your request, I will not include your voice, image, or name in the video. I will, however, be showing your character. Any embarrassing drama will be edited out.

How will character creation work

Character sheets are recorded on form-fillable PDFs provided by me during Session Zero, which is when everyone generates their characters. Players who miss this session cannot participate in the adventure. Starting level can be agreed upon by the group. Players may roll for their ability scores, but I must be able to see these rolls live (digitally or physically). If you decide to roll, you MUST use your results (no backsies!). When creating a character, do three things: 1) Make them an adventurer, 2) Give them a reason to go on this particular adventure, and 3) Accept that they may die in the process. Talk to me if you want to make an evil character that works well with the group. Upon completion, I request copies of everyone's sheets. You may use D&D Beyond only if you are capable of sharing a detailed PDF of your character with me. All homebrew must be approved by me. Absolutely no Gunslingers, Mystics or other Unearthed Arcana stuff.

Players can expect

  • Combat/Tactics: High
  • Roleplay: High
  • Puzzles: Low
  • Experience Level: Open to all
