About the adventure

Based on Acid Wizard Studio's video game of the same name, Darkwood is a very challenging and Gritty Fantasy Module converted to 5th Edition by Me (Armani the DM). This campaign offers a unique experience unlike any other module as you struggle to survive the mysterious woods somewhere in the territory of the Soviet Bloc. -By day explore the the sinister woods, scavenge for materials, craft weapons and discover the secrets of the Darkwood. -By night find shelter, barricade, set up traps and hide or defend yourself from the horrors that lurk in the dark. -Level up by extracting a strange essence from mutated fauna and flora and injecting it into your bloodstream. As the 5th edition XP system is completely overhauled into Darkwood's Essence System. -Make decisions that impact the world of Darkwood, its inhabitants and the story you experience. -Meet eerie characters, learn their stories and decide their fate. And remember - don’t trust anyone.

Additional Details

How to prepare

Players will need a mic and to join the Discord and Roll20 links for the campaign, as well as any Browser that is not Mozilla Firefox (Roll20 issues). As for any other preparation, any rules will be explained during Session 0 and they would need an idea of what character they would want to play.

What I provide

I will have the complete Module on Roll20, as well as all the illustrations for Darkwood. The Discord will have a free to use Music Bot, the Darkwood OST is also downloaded on Roll20 just incase that is preferred. On Roll20 I also have several quality of life API's running so gameplay should run smoothly as well as a few unique macros to make interacting with the world more interesting.

This game contains the following themes: sustained threat, psychological horror, violence, strong language, and strong imagery. This game also uses the below safety tools: Session 0s, Script Change Rating, Luxton Technique Discussion, Open Door, and Breaks.

How will character creation work

Characters will start at level 1 and will created at a free Session 0. I will be in the session to help along with character creation and we can build why the character would be in the Darkwood, as either an outsider to the Zone or an unfortunate inhabitant. Upon request the scope of Fantasy can be boosted to include other races beside variant human but this is a low magic setting so most Casters are out of the question. Due to the Setting, Druids and Rangers are the only Pre-approved casters and Half-casters.
