Dungeons & Dragons 5e

About the adventure

Welcome to Waterdeep, the City of Splendors! Here a gold coin is called a "dragon", and with enough of them an adventurer could find nearly anything in the city's thriving markets. Most adventurers worth their salt eventually make their way to Waterdeep, the Crown of the North, in search of excitement, danger, or great reward. The trick is surviving. A grand caper is about to unfold! The former Open Lord of Waterdeep has hidden a half-million dragons in a secret vault. The city factions are desperate to find this treasure trove and claim it as their own. Famed explorer Volotham Geddarm needs your help. Pit your skill and bravado against villains the likes of which you've never faced before, and let the dragon hunt begin!

How to prepare

Familiarize yourself with the 5th edition rules for creating characters and the basic combat, skills, and magic rules that apply to your character. Also, if you can have a solid idea as to your background, and send that to me ahead of time, I can start to weave your character into the fabric of Waterdeep. If you are familiar with Waterdeep, feel free to get creative with your character backstory.

What I provide

I'll be using the maps and modules for Dragon Heist in Roll20. In addition, I've got my own research materials and source books for preparation.

Gameplay details

Waterdeep Dragon Heist is an adventure of urban investigation and mystery. This module is focused on seeking and finding clues to further the story. Players will interview people, shake down criminals, infiltrate hostile locations, and definitely get into a few battles along the way. However, combat is not the main focus.

How will character creation work

Dragon Heist characters start out at 1st level. It'd be best to have them prepared prior to the game -- so, we can jump right into the action. But, I can provide pre-generated characters if you'd like to start with one of those.

Players can expect

  • Combat/Tactics: Medium
  • Roleplay: High
  • Puzzles: Medium
  • Experience Level: Open to all
