About the adventure

Trapped by the mists in the cursed land of Barovia, where wolves howl, the dead do not rest and even the sun cowers from the devil Strahd, how will you fare? Will you survive? Will you save this dread place or curse it further? Let me guide you through the gloom to wherever your choices lead. Expect to meet colourful NPCs, explore unsettling places, feel a lot of feelings, fight and outwit beasts and undead and untangle webs of secrets that will lead you to the rotten yet beating heart of the land beyond the mists. Enter freely and of your own free-will. Session 0 and one on one character creation are free!

How to prepare

Players will need a mic, a webcam and a discord account. We'll be using Roll20 for character sheets, audio ambiance and combat, if you don't have a free Roll20 account, I'll walk you through creating one. Players can use their own dice or use the dice roller function in Roll20.

What I provide

I provide maps and battle maps on Roll20 and can send copies to players as requested. I can also provide pre-generated character sheets and backgrounds if needed. On request, I can also roll for players who are intimidated by the mechanics or would rather focus entirely on roleplay. I also provide all relevant material such as books, links and explanations; you don't need to pay for anything except the game sessions themselves.

Gameplay details

Safety is paramount, especially in a horror-themed game. During session 0, players will anonymously fill a consent in gaming form where they identify things they absolutely don't want, things that are ok in small amounts and things that are fair game. The tally of results will be shared anonymously so all players can avoid triggers to others. Session 0 and individual character creation calls are free of charge. My DMs are always open both in-game and outside for people to signal a problem and use their X, O and N 'cards' in the form of a private message to me or to discuss events or adjustments to the game. Note that frightening imagery, such as eerie décor, moments of tension and a sense of dread are integral to the adventure but will be modulated to accommodate all players. The possibility of player characters dying will be discussed in session 0 and anonymously voted on by all players. I always do post-session aftercare, the exact nature of which can be decided during session 0 but will include discussions of what happened in the session and how each player is feeling. Breaks are 10 to 15 minutes after every hour or so of play. Note that bullying or belittling of other players or their concerns will not be tolerated and will result in immediate expulsion from the game, same goes for any form of bigotry, including but not limited to: racism, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, ableism and white supremacy.

How will character creation work

Character creation will be done in free one-on-one calls with each player. If you're completely new to the game and would rather not make a character from the ground up, pre-generated characters for every class can be provided.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
