Curse of Strahd: From Darkness Into Light

About the adventure

Curse of Strahd is a Gothic Horror module for 5th edition DND. It is a sandbox RPG focused on role-playing and world-building with challenging combat encounters and BBEGs galore. Morally dubious at best, CoS presents players with unique encounters and NPCs as they make their way through the terrors of Barovia, lost in the distant demi-plane of Ravenloft. Join me in the mists as you grow strong enough to face one of the greatest villains ever written!! CoS is a gritty, bloody, and exponentially dark module best suited for players who enjoy heavy role play, dangerous exploration, and choices that matter. Highly suggested for a mature audience with at least some experience in DND.

Additional Details

How to prepare

We will play on Zoom with roll20 for maps, so a good camera and microphone are ideal. Thematic music will be used throughout the game so good mics are very helpful for audio balance. Bring your dice, character sheets (DM will need a copy as well), and whatever you use to take notes! A google drive for party items/information will be shared with the team.

What I provide

I will bring the DRAMA!! Maps, tokens, visual aids, music, etc! We'll work together to find character art for individual flavors and there will be several shared documents and hand-outs. I also record each session (with permission from the party) and share the audio file a few days after the session so players can keep themselves informed and applaud how funny and talented we all are!!

Gameplay details

Curse of Strahd is a very dark gothic horror game with heavy material and consistent darkness. It can be emotionally draining and quite terrifying and tense. I make sure to communicate with my players so everyone can have a rewarding and considerate experience. Below are the CWs for the basic Strahd package, though subjects may change according to the needs/boundaries of the table. Content Warning: child abuse, murder, kidnapping, gaslighting, racism, sexism, torture, mind control, cannibalism, referenced sexual assault, mental illness, animal cruelty, body horror, suicide, drug addiction, alcoholism, genocide, gore, horror, dark realisim.

How will character creation work

Character creation begins with your ideas and becomes fleshed out in conversation with me! We'll hold a session 0 so everyone can create tied backgrounds and come together as a team pre-campaign. I have character questionnaires to figure out who/what you want to do and how we can optimize your CoS experience. I can also assist with personal builds if desired!

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
