About the adventure

Taken from your homeland, you find yourself in the dark realm of Barovia. The lord of the realm, Strahd, is always interested in new adventurers to see how challenging they are to him. Can you get through the challenges set up for you and still maintain your morals? Or do you fall into evil traps in order to escape the horrors of the land? Set in the classic vampire lore setting, The Curse of Strahd is based upon the Ravenloft setting from previous editions of D&D. For style of play, there is a serious tone but players are still encouraged to use humor if they wish. Fun is the ultimate goal of any game.

How to prepare

Please have a microphone or cellphone where you can access Zoom. You will need a Foundry VTT account as well. Characters will get created at a zero session on D&D Beyond.

Gameplay details

Most players enjoy planning their next action in the games that I run, and it is encouraged. Of course what is planned is often sidelined with new events that come into play. Players typically plan above game in normal voices, and when interacting with NPCs they end up talking in character voice. The game itself is designed for levels 1 through 10, and depending if you are joining a campaign will determine the level of your character. For a quick rating, I tend to run at a PG-13 rating. If younger children join up, I will modify to where parents are comfortable. For horror based adventures, players are encouraged to use traffic light signals when it comes to comfortable/uncomfortable situations. Green is fine, yellow is proceed with caution, and red is a stop. You can either type this in the VTT I'm using or say it out loud in the Discord chat. The last thing I want is players to feel uncomfortable. I want to create a game experience that everybody enjoys.

How will character creation work

Character creation happens before the game. 4d6, drop the lowest result for abilities. Roll 2 sets, choose the set you want. Characters are developed on D&D Beyond with a campaign set up there for the players. Players will have access to the Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, Xanathor's Guide to Everything, Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft, and Tasha's Cauldron of Everything. If you prefer, characters can also get created for you. Just let us know what class and race you want to play and we'll take it from there!

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
