About the adventure

"The master of Ravenloft is having guests for dinner. And you are invited.” World Information and Adventure Primer ------------------------------------ Under raging storm clouds, a lone figure stands silhouetted against the ancient walls of Castle Ravenloft. The vampire Count Strahd von Zarovich stares down a sheer cliff at the village below. A cold, bitter wind spins dead leaves about him, billowing his cape in the darkness. Lightning splits the clouds overhead, casting stark white light across him. Strahd turns to the sky, revealing the angular muscles of his face and hands. He has a look of power—and of madness. His once handsome face is contorted by a tragedy darker than the night itself. Rumbling thunder pounds the castle spires. The wind’s howling increases as Strahd turns his gaze back to the village. Far below, yet not beyond his ken, a party of adventurers has just entered his domain. Strahd’s face forms a twisted smile as his dark plan unfolds. He knew they were coming, and he knows why they have come—all according to his plan. He, the master of Ravenloft, will attend to them. Another lightning flash rips through the darkness, its thunder echoing through the castle’s towers. But Strahd is gone. Only the howling of the wind—or perhaps a lone wolf—fills the midnight air. The master of Ravenloft is having guests for dinner. And you are invited.

How to prepare

A nice working headset and discord is a must. Tools such as character sheet will be provided on Roll20 and available contents (books, etc.) will be shared.

What I provide

No physical tools needed unless you want to (notebooks?). I love to emphasize on visuals so expect a lot of maps, music, and handouts in addition to what the module provides. With over 7000+ hours of Roll20 expertise, you can expect full mastery of the tool. :)

Gameplay details

This is a gothic horror adventure filled with gore, tragedy, and comedy. A typical session would range from intense roleplay to investigations in order to free the people of Barovia from its tyrannical ruler. The campaign focuses on region of Barovia, a demiplane where Count Strahd von Zarovich lives. This campaign can be completed with 0% combat if the players choose to do so. Players are expected to be a band of adventurers going on a mission together when Count Strahd changed their fate by redirecting their course to his land, Barovia. Not only the characters need to leave this place, they undertake a mission to free all of Barovia from the clutches of Strahd. The campaign begins at level 1 and ends at 10. Content Warnings: there is a fairly typical amount of violence for a D&D campaign, the possibility of interrogation scenarios (which will be handled without graphic descriptions of violence), possibly themes of religious conflict, possibly violence against animals in some cases. We will discuss limits and triggers during session zero, and everyone should feel empowered to express their opinion if they feel the game has moved too far in a direction they are not happy with.
