About the adventure

Long ago, a war between gods of good and evil scoured the surface of the world of Exandria. Both the noble Prime Deities and the selfish Betrayer Gods imbued their mortal champions with supernatural gifts that granted them strength enough to challenge their divine foes. The greatest of these champions was Alyxian the Apotheon, who received the blessings of three Prime Deities to save the world from the apocalyptic power of the Betrayer Gods. Centuries later, all knowledge of this godlike hero has been lost to time, and two groups of adventurers are called upon to retrace this mythic hero's steps and free him from his timeless prison. The tale begins in lands familiar to Critical Role fans—the war-scarred wastes of Xhorhas and the glimmering oasis city of Ank'Harel—but ultimately stretches beyond the Material Plane to a realm of lightless despair known as the Netherdeep. This adventure is set in Exandria, the world of Critical Role. Its continents include Tal’Dorei, Wildemount, Marquet, and Issylra. The adventure begins in a region of Wildemount called Xhorhas and transitions to the great Marquesian oasis city of Ank’Harel.

Additional Details

How to prepare

Players should have a good working mic and a stable internet connection. Players are expected to have a full art for their characters, a character token, and a fully fleshed-out character sheet via dndbeyond. Each player will need a dndbeyond account for their characters and discord for voice chat.

What I provide

The GM will give out NPC character arts, ambience art and battle maps via FoundryVTT.

Gameplay details

Typical session will be everyone logging into D&D Beyond, then joining discord, and joining the Foundry VTT link. After everyone is situated and ready to go then we will jump right into the game. Exploring and role playing will be large portions of the game as well as combat and exploration. This is a game for people who like gritty realism combined with high fantasy. I like to play my games with a healthy mix of role-playing, combat, and exploration. There is also a healthy mix of serious and silly content. Character death is a serious possibility, especially at early levels. This is because I do not ascribe to the idea that every encounter should be level specific. I feel the world seems much more alive and realistic when you are bumping into things that are both easy to take care of and nearly impossible to manage. Knowing when to run is one of the greatest skills an adventurer must possess. I want to get your adrenaline pumping in dangerous situations and make it feel as real as possible. I require everyone to be on time and ready for the session and expect them to stay for the entirety unless an emergency arises. I expect people to stay in character as much as possible and do not tolerate metagaming. I run a mature game and any topic may come up at the table in-game, if there are any specific lines you would like to avoid crossing please feel free to message me and I will make a note of it. You can expect to have a 5 to 10 minute break around mid session for grabbing snacks, drinks and bio breaks.

How will character creation work

We will have a full session zero, free of charge, where the only thing we'll do is character creation. This is to make sure everyone is on the same page and that not only do your characters mesh well together but also have enough of a backstory to stand alone.
