About the adventure

Game Premise: In the unforgiving desert world of Athas, where magic is a double-edged sword and civilization has devolved into brutality, your group of adventurers finds itself at a pivotal juncture. As semi-independent operatives of The Kaluk'haaz'kak Empire, you are thrust into the heart of a changing landscape. The traditional isolationist city-states of the Tablelands, once ruled by oppressive Sorcerer-Kings, have transformed into the battleground for a cataclysmic war between two formidable forces. On one side stands The Nation of the Unshaded Scales, a zealous Sun cult intent on subjugating and converting all of Athas to bring about an apocalyptic extinction event. On the opposing front is The Kaluk'haaz'kak Empire, an extraordinary alliance of foreign and domestic powers led predominantly by its formidable, founding, Kreen clutch, determined to thwart The Nation's malevolent designs and restore order to the chaotic land. As members of The Empire, you bear the weight of crucial missions that have the potential to mold the fate of this ever-evolving campaign. Your decisions hold immense consequences, shaping not only your own destinies but also the overarching narrative of the living campaign. Success or failure in these missions could tilt the balance in favor of The Empire or plunge Athas into an apocalypse at the hands of The Nation. The destiny of an entire world rests in your capable hands. Will you rise to the challenge and become the linchpin in The Empire's triumph, or will The Nation of the Unshaded Scales succeed in sterilizing Athas with the Red Sun's eternal radiance? The world's fate is yours to decide! Additional Details

How to prepare

Players will need a discord account, a roll20 account and a working mic. Some working knowledge of Roll20 is preferred but not required. All character creation and rules will be discussed / done with DM after joining game.

What I provide

The only thing you need bring is a positive attitude and an openness to creating an amazing collaborative story. I will provide everything else. Maps, music, monsters, intrigue, voice acting, and lots of experience.

Gameplay details

All safety tools will be discussed as part of the interview process and also as part of the Session 0. The campaign could be roleplay heavy or combat heavy or an even mix of both depending on how the players choose to interact with the world, how they solve the problems / adventures they are faced with and what tasks they choose to pursue versus what tasks they choose to ignore. The world is a living, breathing thing and nothing "stays still." I try to foster a more serious table culture that focuses on immersion and taking the story and plot seriously however, we are here to have fun after all, so some joking around and humor can be expected. Also I try to foster an inclusive table culture (LGBTQIA+, BIPOC and Disability welcome), no form of bigotry or discrimination will be tolerated between players, however Athas is a planet marked by slavery and oppression and some mature themes, bigotry and discrimination may come up between characters and npcs. Before anything gets too explicit or uncomfortable, I often just "fade to black" on the scene and let the players' imaginations fill in the rest.
