About the adventure

Mythos roleplaying for the modern age! In this campaign, we'll feature modern adaptations of classic scenarios, as well as custom content prepared just for you. Expect to see some contemporary reimaginings of popular published scenarios, as well as scenarios intended to be set in the modern day, and ideas and adventures of my own design-- by a professional Call of Cthulhu author! The games will be set in the modern day United States, with the potential for world travel. This of course will depend on the interests of the players and the motivations and actions of their characters, which will be a driving factor in the events of the campaign! As we explore themes of mystery, history, horror, and more, the game will progress from initially episodic scenarios into interconnected stories and narratives as longer plot threads connect and lead into one another and culminate in grander things, much like the red-strings of corkboard conspiracy theorists. Of course, uncovering Mythos mysteries is not without its risks, and our brave investigators may not remain unchanged, or even alive, through some of their experiences. Fortunately, the human spirit can always find ways to continue on in even the worst of circumstances, and there are others to carry the torch when they are gone, should it come to that. After all, it is the modern age in a world of indescribable ancient terrors that have been lost to time. You will not be the first to bear witness to these horrors, and you will not be the last. Though perhaps through your efforts, you might hold back the tide of darker things for just a while longer.

Additional Details

How to prepare

A working mic will be required, but a webcam is not! Accounts on the utilized platforms will be needed (Roll20, Discord). You are encouraged to read the rules ahead of time, but not required to do so! It does help the game go more smoothly, but I'm more than happy to help guide you through things.

What I provide

In the course of some scenarios, I may provide maps, handouts, and illustrative images as necessary to help enhance the gameplay experience.

Gameplay details

Content warnings listed reflect things that I feel are reasonably likely, but I'm willing to avoid any of these as well, or add more things to the list as needed! Session 0 will include character creation and talking about what people want out of the game and how things will go as well as fielding other questions! We'll also fill out the consent checklist at session 0 and discuss potential triggers as-needed. X,N,O cards may be used in-text chat or verbally at any point whenever needed, and there is always an Open Door policy to discuss the game and manage Bleed, and we'll try to call breaks during longer sessions or after particularly intense moments. If you have any questions or need for additional accommodations with respect to the safety tools used, I'm happy to do my best to make sure everyone is comfortable!
