About the adventure

The Olaxis Galaxy is a place of marvels and wonder, splendid in majestic diversity of being, and held together by the synthesis of magic and science. But the Burn has brought a glorious time to a fearful crisis, as all sorts of beings flee from the edges of space and the dreaded Burn. Your crew of adventurers are far from that dreadful border, but the consequences of the burn reach far. Having recently helped refugees from the galactic fringe escape a terrible fate, you dock at a neutral station for some rest. But the burn is not done with you, and those who see it as a vehicle to gain power are on the move, acting in the name of a divinity they claim has power over the phenomenon that all now fear. Will you brave the flames once more, and be heroes?

How to prepare

A roll20 account is required. Familiarizing yourself with the rules is welcome but not required as they are not so complex that they cannot be learned in play.

What I provide

I will be using an officially sanctioned adventure for Burn Bryte.

Gameplay details

As you probably gathered from the introduction, this is a Space Fantasy genre game set in galaxy aflame - shrinking under the encroaching fire of the mysterious Burn. It is a galaxy of magic and ancient wonders as much as lasers and starships. Burn Bryte is a RPG specifically designed for the roll20 website, and Burning Daylight is a module created for the game, so you can expect elements of play to be well integrated. This module is an introductory campaign with pre-generated characters and a gentle learning curve, well suited for those new to game. While it may be a stretch to say Burn Bryte is "Rules Lite" favors narrative over strict mechanics. Success and effectiveness rely as much on creativity and élan as they do on the stats in your character sheet. Gameplay should be highly narrative, but also features an exciting "push your luck" mechanic for combat, and the campaign will have substantial combat as it is assumed your crew are heroes willing to take the fight to those who would harm the innocent. Character advancement is grounded in your character arc and developing growth in a narrative sense, so you need not worry about "hunting for XP." Content Warning: Fire, Kidnapping, Terrorist Attack, Cult (religious violence/coercion) Safety Tools: X-N-O Cards are provided as part of the module, and we well also be using Lines and Veils to make sure we have boundaries well established.

How will character creation work

Pre-generated Characters are available. If you want to customize them, you are welcome to, but I encourage you not to build from scratch so we can get to gameplay quickly. That said, if the player consensus is to do character building afresh, I am happy to oblige.

Players can expect

  • Combat/Tactics: Medium
  • Roleplay: High
  • Puzzles: Low
