About the adventure

A deathly chill snakes down the cold mounts passes of Lanyx. Soft, a kiss, a hint, a whisper in the air that flows into the green valleys of the Lanyx countryside. Blades of grass dance to the icy kiss of the mounts breeze, curl down word, turn from lush deep green, into a sickly yellow, then shriven into a rotten brown. Travelers approach a forlorn inn set into a small twisted grove, their boots trampling unnoticed over the decaying grass. The whipser of the crystaline wind flows through their hair. They sense death in this wind. But from where? A signpost across the front of the decrepit wooden shod of an inn bangs slowly in intermittent waves against the eves of the crimson trim of the old inn. A traveler squints into the bleak movement of air. The ancient sign flips up, BANG, flips down into view: Blackhaven Inn A dark gritty fantasy adventure exploring the cause of mysterious death that is sweeping the lands Lanyx. Is it simply another plague that has ravaged the peaceful countryside? Or is their something more sinister at work?

How to prepare

Players will be given access to my game via Once given access, players can either create characters from characters sheets provided by me in roll20, or ask that a character be made for them. A player must provide their experience level. If a player has no experience level, a game session involving a description of the basics is highly encouraged. If players would rather not have a session 0 game mechanics session, they are encouraged to read the DnD 5th edition players handbook. Players will all need access to the DnD 5th edition players handbook to play.

What I provide

Players must have access to the DnD 5e players handbook. All other features will be supplied by me.

Gameplay details

The game will be centralized around roll-playing. There will be a fair amount of mystery and narrative driven mechanics within the game. That being said, be prepared to explore, and slay monster. Alternatively, can you find more peaceful solutions to otherwise violent altercations? The rewards may be worth it.

How will character creation work

Players can either create their own characters, or have pre-made characters. Characters will be expected to exist in a gritty fantasy world that will focus on player creation. Characters must be within the neutral to good alignment. I find it difficult to run sessions with evil characters; it is a challenge to manage self-interested characters in a game that is meant to incorporate team-work. Players can provide artwork of pictures of their characters. I will utilize these pictures to create tokens for map purposed in roll20. If a player does not wish to provide artwork, I will provide it for them.

Players can expect

  • Combat/Tactics: Medium
  • Roleplay: High
  • Puzzles: Low
  • Experience Level: Open to all
