About the adventure

Welcome to Blackbird Academy, run by the worst scum in Osaka and home to the most violent delinquents in Japan. Growing up dodging knives is hard enough in Blackbird but something worse is going on, children are disappearing and nobody seems to care when they’re all gang kids. You’ve got no leads about what’s happening but you swear some things off with your home room teacher. Of course who cares, you’re a bad kid with a bad attitude and nobody expects you to be a hero…but someone needs to do something no matter the danger. Of course you have no idea just how dangerous it’ll become! This is my love letter to the Sukeban genre and japanese delinquent shows in general. Set in the 1980s it’s meant to be a dark adventure with plenty of monsters, evil teachers, and big delinquent fights. You’ll start the game without your Geist but will gain it early in the campaign! If you like Buffy the Vampire Slayer or other supernatural teen dramas you’ll love this game!

Additional Details

How to prepare

I expect a mic and nothing else. I also expect you to try and read the book before the game begins and at the very least know what your character can do without me having to remind you. We will be making characters but if you can make it yourself you can, otherwise we will focus on character creation through text on the discord before game starts and during Session 0. The sheets will all be done in Roll20.

What I provide

I bring not only my experience from running for nearly two decades but also a deep understanding of story, an ability to homebrew whatever you want in the game, and many maps from creators on Patreon. This game also includes three free sessions and free art!

Gameplay details

As always, please tell me your triggers before we start this game. That way I can freak you out, terrify you, make you deeply uncomfortable while also never giving you a panic attack. Horror can be fun and fear can be too but PTSD and the players emotional trauma are not part of that nor any of my games. My campaigns generally use Discord for voice and Roll20 for the images, though this game will be starkly more Theatre of the Mind than a DnD game with battlemaps. This is one of my darker games as it is essentially a game about teenagers, trauma, and death. I run my normal assortment of body horror, psychological horror, and the like but the focus will be on death and the consequences of it both in a physical and metaphysical sense.

How will character creation work

We will be forming our PCs on Roll20 during Session 0 using their sheets and I will also be providing a Backstory Sheet that will include things such as hooks and NPCs from your backstory, specific questions for the campaign, and a page for Knives. Knives are a type of roleplay tool that I use to add drama to the game by using your characters backstory to build weaknesses I can add to the story. If you're late to the campaign we will be having a session 0 between you and me as well as a short intro through Masks rp connection system at the start of the next game.
