About the adventure

*Please note that whilst this game says all age ranges, I as a DM will try to separate groups into Under 18's and 18+ to ensure the comfort and security of all players. Due to the playtest Looking to get started in D&D but looking for something different? Don't know where to go? Don't worry! This is the place for new players to learn how to play D&D but using my 5e conversion Mortality. This short adventure (levels 1-5) will be taking place in a homebrew setting called Tobov, a land covered in ice where even the oceans are frozen solid. Strange happenings are on the horizon after the beasts of the woods around Rivane begin to reanimate for unknown reasons. You are a group of adventurers tasked by the elven church of Rillifane Rallathil to uncover the secrets of these reanimated beasts, and to lay their souls to rest. It should be stated here that this game will not be like any other game of D&D 5e, we would be playing a custom version of D&D that has been written by me and incorporates a lot more mechanical aspects, as well as difficulty to the game. If you're looking for a challenge akin to a dark souls game, this game is for you. Additionally, Mortality is still in a playtest state, hence the slightly lower price in comparison to my other games. Content in the game will be shaped around your experience of it. If we find that something is too powerful or too weak ingame, then the content will change to bring it inline with other content in Mortality.

Additional Details

How to prepare

A microphone is required but a webcam is completely optional and won't be used unless everyone in the game would like to use a webcam. There's no expectation to read the rules ahead of time nor do players need to have a character sheet made before the game. We'll be using Roll20's online roller so physical dice aren't required in this game. My biggest suggestion on how to prepare would be to download Firefox and install the VTT Enhancement Suite extension for Roll20 as it will bring a lot more functionality to the game. Note that while this is not required, it is heavily recommended.

What I provide

I will be providing access to the rulebooks for players to use including my own homebrew content that players can use with their characters. I will also be making the maps for characters and after staying for 5 sessions will provide the STL files of their character made in Heroforge.

Gameplay details

Sessions longer than 3 hours will have a half-time break of 15 minutes for players to grab food, go to the toilet, and chat to destress. If a break is required in a game that is 3 hours or less, then players are free to call for a break at any time. Animal death is to be expected in the game due to the adventure with animals having died to be reanimated. Fire is simply there to include the potential use of fire from the players but may be completely optional if required by the players. Death and violence are unfortunately a part of most D&D experiences and are 99/100 times things caused by players against bandits or monsters. In session 0 we'll be covering everything that players think is important (with guidance from me for those with no experience whatsoever) including character creation as well as triggers, and any phobias that players may have. Lines and veils will also be discussed during session 0 and a list of lines and veils will be made so that I know what is okay in the game and what is not. X, N, and O cards will be used in more of a traffic-light system using Roll20's safety deck (Green for keep going, Yellow/Amber for slow down, Red for stop) If there is a player that continues to push play in a direction where Yellow or Red cards are used to stop play, the player in question will first be given a warning and a conversation will happen to attempt to push the game back on track. If the behaviour continues then the player will be removed from the game. Stars and Wishes will be handled either by a questionnaire or by a discussion over Discord.
