Beginner Friendly: Adventures of Wildemount!

About the adventure

The Adventure Calls! This mini adventure is set in the action-packed, mysterious, and dynamic world of Exandria on the continent of Wildemount. An amazing setting created by Matthew Mercer in conjunction with WotC. Craft your character and join in on the exciting adventures that serve as a great introduction to both D&D and to the continent of Wildemount. We will be playing one of four adventures bringing your character from 1st to 3rd level over the span of 3-5 sessions. Preparing you to join the adventuring world at large. I pride myself on crafting a game built around my players. So even though we will be playing the circumstance given - the path will never be the same from group to group. Focusing on different elements of play based off of the groups preferences and preferred styles. I will also tailor the experience to the experience level of the group - some groups will be to teach the game while others will be expected to know the base mechanics. Either way I am patient and here for a good ol' time. This adventure provides the opportunity to play on a less demanding schedule as games are not quite campaign length but longer than a single night. Get together once a week and experience what D&D is all about while getting to learn the mechanics of the game in a friendly and patient environment and also trying out the early stages of character building. Being a campaign spanning only a few weeks this is the perfect opportunity to try something crazy, get to know the game, or just play without the long-term commitment required in other games. Our tools will vary based on the game listed are the ones that I use often and find the best mixes with.

Additional Details

How to prepare

Players will need a microphone in order to talk on discord and a quiet place, free of excessive external noise to play. Webcams are encouraged (I will use one) as it makes the game feel more friendly and personable. But they are not required. Beyond that you will need to install Discord and (if used) Fantasy Ground Unity (FREE VERSION) in order to play as that is where we will be hosting the session for character sheets and combat. We will discuss specific tools on a per game basis for what the preferred tools of the group may be.

What I provide

I will provide everyone with the D&DBeyond & Fantasy Ground Unity access as well as any additional session specific items including custom maps, and design art. No purchase should be necessary for the players beyond the need for a microphone.

Gameplay details

This game is family friendly. We want to keep things light and fast instead of getting bogged down in a rule heavy mechanical game. The story and experience at the table are far more important to me than getting it "right." In addition to that we will have a session 0 where we create characters that work well together and discuss off-limit subjects and topics. From there on I will encourage open (or private) conversations about touchy or triggering subjects in order to make sure everyone is having a great time. Again I really push for the game to be fun for the entire table so if we have to avoid a certain subject then hard and fast rules will be made to ensure the mental safety of everyone at the table.

How will character creation work

Character creation will happen mostly as a group. I encourage the creation of characters that are here to work together or that will when given the opportunity. While I wholly believe it is not my job to tell you why your character is adventuring and what their motivation is I will work with your to help build a character where that reasoning is a strong factor so that you can feel true to the character you're playing. We will start at the end of the free Session 0 to go over things as a group and then move on from there. If you need active assistance creating a character we will spend time doing that. If you need time to think about the character before you create them - I just need the character approved by me before we start. That way everyone is ready to go at the start of the game for session 1. We will be starting at level one.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
