Beginner Dungeon Crawl Classics (DCC) - Portal Under the Stars

About the adventure

The way DCC starts is each player rolls up 4 characters. Those character are almost completely random and start at level ZERO. That means they are just walking out of the farm fields, taverns, smithies, and shadows of others greater than them on a quest to find fame and fortune. Lots of them will die before this adventure is over. We will use pre-generated characters and use that time instead to talk about the game mechanics like luck, etc. If you haven't played, find the free quick start online and read through it ahead of time so we can make the most of the time we have to play. Portal Under the Stars is one of my favorite adventures to use as an introduction for new players to DCC. It should take 4 hours to complete. Normally, I would price a 4-hour session higher, but this is aimed at being accessible to new players and seasoned TTRPG players who want to try something new.

How to prepare

Be signed up for Roll20. Maybe have a pencil and notepad handy. Microphone (Webcam is optional) If you have time, find the quick start and read through it to respect everyone's time we will try to get into the gameplay quickly.

We'll discuss some quick mechanics that are particular to Dungeon Crawl Classics. From there we head out on adventure! Players will have characters die, it's part of the gritty, brutal old-school feel of DCC.

How will character creation work

Level: ZERO Created: Pre-generated. This is just to save time but we can talk about how it's done if the group is interested. What you need to bring: An open mind, a Roll20 account, and a solid internet connection.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
