Barovia Pass (Curse of Strahd)
Dungeons & Dragons 5e, Homebrew Game on Roll20, Zoom
Price per player-session
About the adventure
“Staunton, Virginia; it ain’t no apple, but at least it has a motor-hotel,” my partner says while slamming the door. “And a wack house,” I say, pointing at the red-brick hospital overlooking the highway. “Tomorrow, we should check the word on the line before heading up to the pass.” “Solid,” I took the telegraph from my pocket and looked at its twelve mysterious letters, “SND HLP NOW PLS.” Barovia Pass is an adaption for Curse of Strahd, set in 1930s Appalachia. An easy-to-use home-brewing of D&D 5e brings this classic fantasy horror adventure into a two-fisted pulp setting without giving up any of the horrors.
How to prepare
You will need a mic and Zoom. You will also need a roll20 account.
What I provide
We will be using roll20 with custom maps and tokens, many designed specifically for this game.
This will be a gritty pulp version of the classic Curse of Strahd game. The game will focus on exploration of Barovia Pass and interacting with the residents of this largely ignored section of Appalachia as part of an investigation. Combat will be uncommon and uncommonly dangerous. We will be using sidekick rules for player characters, so the mechanical complexity of the game will be reduced while increasing the tactical difficulty of some of the encounters. So it will be a good game for new D&D players to grasp the rules while still presenting a challenge for experienced players.
How will character creation work
We will have a session zero to create characters and to meet the players.
Players can expect
- Combat/Tactics: High
- Roleplay: High
- Puzzles: Medium
- Experience Level: Open To All
