About the adventure
The city of Hobb is built near a deadly, murky swamp but nonetheless enjoys vibrant trade, healthy populace, and absolute security. This is in part due to a pilgrimage that must be undertaken every year through the aforementioned swamp to the Abadon Temple, a final vestige of a long-forgotten god's power. The god had pronounced that as long as it was honored by Hobb (then a small village) it would know naught but prosperity and peace. In order to fulfill the ancient bargain, a yearly pilgrimage is made. Pilgrims who are chosen to make the perilous journey are cleansed of their past misdeeds, sins, and trespasses and, in turn, provide protection for the city for yet another year. The journey is not without its perils, and as such the city looks to hire Adventurers to protect the pilgrims. By protecting the pilgrims, the Adventurers are granted a boon by the remnant of the god as well as handsomely rewarded by the city: those Adventuring troupes which fulfilled their bargain to protect Pilgrims have gone on to great acclaim, fame, and fortune. The last group that failed, some two centuries ago, are still vilified in story and song to this day. It was the only time in recorded history that Hobb ever had a famine, and the memory lingers. The day of the Pilgrimage has come, and the adventurer troupe, chosen by lot, has been selected. Now it is up to you, brave adventurers, to guard and guide the pilgrims on their way to the shrine. An adventure for 3 to 6 players, 4th to 5th level. Roll20 Elements of suspense, survival, and evil stalking unseen in the mists.
