About the adventure

Around the Table Adventures can run a game for you, your friends and family, or your special event! From action-packed single sessions to expansive custom arcs, playing around the table is the core of what we do. Around the Table Adventures' Custom Arcs are a deeper dive into the exploration, passion, and adventure of a multi-session storytelling experience. Each Custom Arc features: * Fully custom character creation (no pre-rolled characters here!) * One 1-hour starter session ("Session 0") * Four full 4-hour game sessions * A total of over 16 hours of custom play for you and your friends All games are Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition in a homebrew world. Everything you and your group needs to play is included, including blank character sheets, rules cheat sheets, and dice! I do not have a minimum player count (yes, I can run a game for 1)! I do have a maximum player count of 5. I prefer 18+, but I’m definitely open to parents/families including children in the game. (If you’ve got a very young kiddo, let’s talk about modifications to make the game easy and fun!) I live in Minneapolis. In-person games can be hosted at a mutually-agreeable venue in the Twin Cities area. If you’d like to a run a game for a birthday party, bachelor party, or corporate event, I can come to you! Don’t live locally? Prefer to keep quarantine safety? Remote games can be available via Discord, too! Single Sessions can be booked most Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Custom Arcs are limited to one per month (as they run approximately one month long), so please be prepared for limited availability. I typically charge a $300.00 flat fee for Custom Arcs (assuming 1 - 5 players playing over 1 Session 0 and 4 games for a total of 5 sessions). For StartPlaying.Games, I am offering a 20% sliding scale discount. This maths out to approximately $16.00 per player per session.

How to prepare

For a Custom Arc, we will do a Session 0 together, where we will cover some light rules and I will walk you through creating your custom character. From there, everything you need to play will be included, including character sheets, rules cheat sheets, and dice (if playing in-person). A webcam and mic are expected (if playing remotely via Discord). Preparation is fairly minimal, but reading up on some details of your character and basic rules would be appreciated.

What I provide

Again, I'll be providing character sheets, rules cheat sheets, and dice. I typically include Inkarnate maps, which you may be able to take home with you!

Gameplay details

SAFETY AND VALUES: I am a storyteller, tabletop roleplayer, and DM for hire from Minneapolis, Minnesota (living on Wahpekute and Očhéthi Šakówiŋ land). I am trans, nonbinary, queer, and committed to fat liberation, disability justice, Black Lives Matter, and a seat at the table for all. My mission is to welcome new players to tabletop roleplaying games by creating fun, accessible content and sharing rich, imaginative stories together. My values statement can be found here: https://www.aroundthetableadventures.com/about. I believe tabletop roleplaying games can be a powerful storytelling experience - on par with popular films, books, theatre, and all moving art - but only if players can show up as their whole selves authentically, access game content easily, and tell their stories without fear. If we love the art of tabletop storytelling, we will all do our part to ensure players can be themselves, find accessible ways to play, and join the story! GAMEPLAY: All games are Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition in a homebrew world. Everything you need to play is included, including blank character sheets, rules cheat sheets, and dice. I favor collaborative storytelling, rich narrative, comedy, and occasional horror over crunchy rules or excessive tactical combat. While I recognize the value of the TTRPG sourcebook to ensure balance and fairness, I tend to regard the sourcebook as supportive of the game around the table, not the game itself. I would anticipate a game with strong social justice thinking, welcoming/accessible to new players, with a heavy storytelling and RP focus. If you prefer to leave politics at the door, love hack-and-slash murder hobo adventures, enjoy digging into esoteric and arcane rules, and are passionate about Warhammer 40k-style tactical combat, I am not the GM for you.

How will character creation work

For a Custom Arc, we will do a Session 0 together, where we will cover some light rules and I will walk you through creating your custom character. I typically use DnD Beyond to support this. You will then receive a printable and interactable character sheet to play.
