About the adventure

The town of Xynnir sits near the center of The Maker’s Palm, the only fertile farmland for miles in any direction. It is a quiet traditional settlement where the most exciting happenings include local gossip and watching the desert caravans roll in. But all that changes when a Mysterious Satyr comes to town claiming to be the Greatest Bard who has ever lived and seems intent on spicing things up! - Target Party and Level: 4 level 1 players - Expected Playtime Playtime: 3-4 Hours - Tone: Madcap Fey Adventure

How to prepare

FOR VIRTUAL GAMES PROGRAMS: We will use Fantasy Grounds for our VTT and Discord for communication. HARDWARE: A Microphone is a must. Headphones are optimal to avoid noise bleed. Webcams are very helpful, but optional. RULES: Players should be at least rules acquainted, the more familiar a player is the better. EXCESSORIES: The software we use has a built in dice roller. We will all use that. There will be no need for character sheets. You may keep one if you wish but the one in the program will be the one that matters. CHARACTER: You should have a good concept for a character before session 0. I do not need an elaborate backstory. A few lines will suffice.

What I provide

I will supply the VTT. There will be tokens for your characters. If you want a custom token please send me art ahead of time.

Gameplay details

A typical session with me runs three hours depending on the sidetracking of the group. I try to balance the major pillars of adventure and content in the adventure, and try to offer a healthy split between Roleplay and Gameplay, although I lean more into the Roleplay side of things. My games tend to run on the "realistic" side but I am semi-flexible with the rules and always give consideration to the Rule of Cool. Most of my games run with a PG-13 style rating. I do love to run Classic Gothic Horror so that often pushes the rating up, but again that is often dependent on the party. I will always enact a form of Safety System for those unforeseen moments when a boundary is accidentally pushed. Satyr-Day Night Fever fits into the PG-13 category. It deals with a Satyr on the loose so there is some Fey Debauchery and other innuendo caused by his outrageous behavior. None of it is aimed at the players and is all hovering in the background or presented as a problem for them to fix.

How will character creation work

We will create Characters before hand, in a brief Session 0, with Guidelines I provide. Typically I operate with standard rules in the PHB for character creation. Point buy for stats. HP average for leveling. And the PHB +1 additional resource for builds. Official Rules Only. For the first several times we play there are no Homebrew or UA Characters. If you are a returning player we can examine those options, but not until I know you better.

Players can expect

  • Combat/Tactics: Medium
  • Roleplay: High
  • Puzzles: Medium
  • Experience Level: Intermediate
