Alice is Missing | An Immersive Chat-Based Silent Roleplaying Mystery Game

About the adventure

It's the first day of winter break in the small town of Silent Falls, and your friend Alice Briarwood has disappeared. We will uncover where she went...and who was after her. Will we bring her home safely? "Alice is Missing is a silent role-playing game played live and without verbal communication. Players inhabit their character for the entirety of the 90-minute play session, and instead of speaking, send text messages back and forth to the other characters in a group chat, as well as individually, as though they aren’t in the same place together. Hauntingly beautiful, Alice is Missing puts a strong focus on the emotional engagement between players, immersing them in a tense, dramatic mystery that unfolds organically through the text messages they send to one another."

How to prepare

You will need... Discord Roll20 Microphone + Headphones Webcam (optional) We will use my pre-made Discord channels for texting. You will need the ability to record audio for voicemails we will record in-game - I will provide a link to some easy-to-use voice mp3 recording sites or you may use an app on your voice that allows you to download voice notes which we will later upload into Discord during the session. We will also be using Synctube for the in-game music timer.

What I provide

Access to Roll20 game, tutorial on how to play game using Roll20, organized Discord channels to facilitate in-game texting.

Gameplay details

We will begin in voice chat to discuss how to play and safety tools for 30-45min, before breaking for 90min gameplay. After gameplay, we will come back together to debrief before departing. The 90min gameplay will take place in discord text chats and Roll20. Webcam encouraged, but not required. Safety tools will be discussed prior to gameplay as well as a group debriefing after the gameplay is over. Not all content warnings will be present, however, depending on cards drawn and player choices, any listed may be present. If you would like to join and would like any content lined or veiled, or have any content questions please let me know. I can communicate any additional lines/veils anonymously with our group. Alice is Missing can be an emotional game and it is my job to provide you with a safe environment to play. Lined: Sexual-non consent Veiled: Gore, violence, and victim blaming toward Alice and her actions (you may still be upset with her actions but that does not mean she deserves whatever may happen to her)

How will character creation work

Characters will be chosen by players prior to or at the beginning of the session. Players will have access to the Discord channel to discuss with other players which pre-made character they would like to be. If the game is not full prior to the session, we will choose characters together when we meet. There are 4 established characters players may choose from: Dakota Travis, the best friend. Jack Briarwood, the older brother. Julia North, the secret girlfriend. Evan Holwell, the one with the crush. ***This game is not using the Silent Falls Expansion with the exception of playable characters as it is not yet available on Roll20.*** If players have played Alice is Missing or do not connect with one of the above characters, we can arrange for you to play one of the other new characters from the expansion. Jordan Foster, the childhood friend. Hollis Briarwood, the younger sibling. Steven Yates, the ex-boyfriend.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
