About the adventure

Players do not have to commit to more than one operation and may drop in and out depending on interest in a given scenario. Delta Green agents do not fade away; they die just like everyone else. A NIGHT AT THE OPERA collects six Delta Green operations, or “nights at the opera” as agents sometimes call them. Each scenario stands on its own as a moment of terror. Combined, they will expose you to the edges of the horrors of the world of Delta Green, then suck them into abysses of fear and desperation from which the world itself may never emerge. »REVERBERATIONS: An introductory scenario in which the agents confront foes that were old before Delta Green was born. »VISCID: Investigating a geneticist’s gruesome death, the agents confront lethal conspiracies and horrors that never should have been made. »MUSIC FROM A DARKENED ROOM: The agents must investigate a house that may be haunted by things more terrifying than ghosts. »EXTREMOPHILIA: Can the agents stop the spread of an unnatural threat? Or will they become just another vector for the disease? »THE STAR CHAMBER: The agents must hear and adjudicate the horrific after-action report from another team— by way of playing out scenes from the earlier mission in between scenes of the present day. »OBSERVER EFFECT: The agents investigate a cutting-edge physics laboratory that may have looked a little too deeply into the nature of reality. Delta Green is a contemporary setting, starting in the mid-1990s. The game revolves around a fictitious secret organization, created by the U.S. Government. You, as Delta Green Agents, work undercover through other U.S. government agencies, including the FBI, ATF, CIA, CDC, and DEA. You must not only contain incursions from creatures from the Cthulhu Mythos, but also secret conspiracies and rogue organizations that seek to weaponize its powers. Are the tasks listed above something you can tackle? Are you willing to face your primal fear of the unknown? Thank you for showing interest! This game is mainly for DG players with experience, though newer players are also welcome. Delta Green TTRPG is one without malice, but also without mercy. Your agent characters will fall deeper and deeper into the waters of insanity as their dossier fills up. As such, expect the atmosphere to be grim one and the feeling of helplessness to linger. There is always hope, but only ever enough to keep your agents barely afloat. If you are still up to the task, Delta Green welcomes you, Agent.

How to prepare

Webcam is optional but a Mic is necessary. You must have Discord and preferably sign up for an account on Owlbear Rodeo then set it up. However, you can still join Owlbear Rodeo as a Guest if you don't have a registered account and without setting it up. Doing so means you will not be able to hear the ambience and sound effects that are played though. Reading the game rules ahead of time will be appreciated, but the actual need for it cannot be decided until Session 0 is complete. Nonetheless, I am here to guide and remind you in case you forget during game sessions, and I'm sure (and hope) the rest are willing to lend a hand too.

What I provide

PDFs of the Blank/Pre-generated (If Required) Character Sheets, Need to Knows, Cheatsheets, Axiom for Agents and the Agent's Handbook will be shared with all players. I personally also own many of Delta Green sourcebooks (Handler's Guide, The Complex, The Conspiracy etc) so you can expect additional rules to be used to liven the game up and pose additional challenges to you. I'm also an avid creator of content so you can expect some rudimentary rituals and tomes that are tailored to suit the narrative to appear in the game from time to time. When I say content, Supernatural Horrors are included too~ I will be mainly using Owlbear Rodeo for Combat. I can provide a backdrop of each major point of interest alongside key NPCs and/or items of note, as well as tokens/images for them. With Owlbear Rodeo, I can additionally provide Combat/Exploration Maps fitted with dynamic lighting. To reiterate, I'm a total novice with Voice-acting, however, I do still keep every NPC unique through their spins of unique traits, appearances and/or habits. Simple yet varied (according to the scene) ambiences will be played to hopefully help with immersion, which you can easily adjust the volume of, or toggle off locally according to your preference. However, you need to set up the VTT beforehand to hear the ambience. I'm usually by the book in terms of rules and mechanics, but seeing we are all here to have fun, rules can and will be modified to suit the table's needs.

Gameplay details

Session 0 will be held to break the ice between us, lay down the rules of the table, set up and confirm player expectations, give a brief world introduction as well as create new characters or bring back old ones. A Lines and Veil document will also be sent during this session, but you will be given a few days to answer it. During the game, X, N, and O Cards will be used. If we are using the Owlbear Rodeo Virtual Tabletop, you can find them at the top left corner of your screen (For more information, refer to the safety-tools channel). If Discord is used, you can DM me privately, message everyone on the "shout-out" channel or speak up to everyone directly through your microphone. If you have to step away, because you’re uncomfortable with something that’s happening or have to tend to something in real life, you can do so. A break will be held around the halfway point of each session so everyone can freshen up and grab a drink if required. After the end of each session, I will give a synopsis of what happened in that session and hear your opinions of the game, whether it be an issue or a good part. A Star and Wishes document will also be sent to you all so I can prepare the next session with what you like and your wants in mind. Luxton Technique can and will be used if the table deems it helpful and wants to use it. So don't hesitate to request it!

How will character creation work

Be fully prepared to lose multiple agents throughout the campaign. As such, it is recommended to have enough rough drafts to turn into at least 2, preferably 3 characters during Session 0 with everyone, live. If any characters are unfortunately no longer fit for action, you will be required to create more to fill the empty seats on your own. However, I will be around to help with the creation of new agents between or before sessions if my assistance is needed. Backstories for your characters are still required, but they should not be longer than 3 paragraphs (preferably 1) with a heavy emphasis on their bonds and how they become Delta Green Agents or how are they ready to face the unnatural. For Delta Green, the concept of Leveling Up does not exist, so you do not have to worry about that. If you intend to use the same Agent in future Delta Green games of mine, I will be willing and excited to share how your Agents improve, or most likely, degrade. All official sources are allowed, Custom Content will be allowed on a case-by-case basis after I reviewed them, with the clause that I can edit/rebalance them outside of game sessions when required.
