A Griffin's Bounty: A One-Shot for New and Experienced Players Alike

About the adventure

Danarel, captain of the guard and leader of the griffin-riders of the beautiful seaside city of Caldranth, has asked you for a favor. Seeing the group of adventurers before her, she tells you that a young griffin rider named Oriana Astraeus has absconded with her griffin, Midnight, apparently fed up with taking orders and looking to become a mercenary. This defection is something of a sore spot for the griffin riders, so they don't want to openly advertise a bounty, but Danarel thinks she can rely on you to carry out the quest discreetly. She asks you to venture to forest near the small town of Crooked Knee, where there have been reports of a woman riding a griffin flying through the sky and capturing local cattle and other wildlife. She would like both Danarel and the griffin back alive if at all possible, but is willing to give a bounty even in the case of their death. Do you and your companions have what it takes to bring back a griffin rider alive, or will your short adventuring career end as griffin food? This adventure will take place in a homebrewed setting but drawing on material from "Villains & Lairs II" from DMSGuild. It is open to all ages and all levels of experience.

How to prepare

Players will need access to Discord and a working microphone to take part in the game as well as a functional browser for use with Foundry Virtual Tabletop.

What I provide

I will be providing virtual handouts, audio and music effects, maps, and tokens using Foundry VTT.

Gameplay details

If any of the players are younger, I will ask everyone to refrain from explicit language at the table. Otherwise, the adventure contains no themes likely to be upsetting other than a mild amount of violence due to in-game battle.

How will character creation work

Players are asked to create their own level three character sheets soon after joining the game. The easiest way to do this is DNDBeyond.com, although I'll accept any legible version of a 5E character sheet. Players are asked to use standard array for stats and limit their equipment to starting equipment. Official content only, please.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
