About the adventure

Times have changed for Soval, located in a tundra covered valley north of the Icerim Mountains. After a decade long war against the undead armies of Thay, and the discovery of a mythical stone said to have the ability to preserve life, Soval has not found peace. Many have lost loved ones in the fight against Szass Tam and the Red Wizards of Thay. Many have given up hope, feeling as though the gods have forsaken them. Many have chosen to end their own lives. In this cold frost covered hellscape, there is much beauty, tradition, and lore. Hope is not lost, in these trying times, there is one who took it upon himself to stand tall and claim the title of a beacon of hope in a world consume by darkness, but will he succeed? 4 Travelers have found themselves in the company of the Neverwinter Adventurers Guild. A man by the name of Sir Geofree Fife has come up to each traveler individually asking for aid. He gave them warning of a prophecy, something that shook each one on a personal level. Something that is coming true... "A legend has fortold, a prophecy cast away long ago. A herald from the material plane will awaken a nameless horror from its millennia long slumber, casting it loose upon the world so that it may be born anew. A world free of sin, a world free of suffering, a world of ever-lasting darkness." Though shaken by this, each traveler has a reason for traveling to Soval. Wealth? Power? Honor? Missing family? Thrill seeking? whatever the case they find more than they bargained for. A Brew Served Cold is a D&D 5E horror campaign. In a world filled with heroes and monsters there are some tales that warn of the true threats that skulk in the shadows. Not every story is about heroes. Some are fables of warning. This game will bring new combat mechanics, roleplay options, skill attributes, and more! Players will have to keep track of 2 new ability scores: Insanity and Stress. If any of them reach or surpass a threshold, they die. They must also keep track of food, water and resources. Rest will be harder to come by, their wounds will shows more, their fatigue will bleed through. Combat will be harder with new conditions and mechanics, forcing players to think more strategically. Additionally, this campaign will air as a weekly podcast with mature themes. As a horror campaign/podcast, applicants must be comfortable with the following: 1. Suicide, suicidal thoughts, and self-harm. 2. Addiction. 3. Gory and other grotesque descriptions. 4. Slavery and racism. 5. Uncureable diseases and curses. 6. Religious persecution. Players should have a good microphone, which displays their voice clearly, and should have a schedule that will allow them to show up for the respected game time.
