7th Sea 2e: The Duke's Gambit

About the adventure

On the border between three major nations sits Buche, a prosperous little town that is home to universities, a rolling impromptu tax-free market, and an ever-shifting web of alliances and maneuvers among seven Marquis loyal to L'Emperor of Montaigne (in name, at least.) The nobles occupy positions of dizzying wealth and power while the commoners struggle to fill their bellies, dreaming of the day when the nation's motto of "Freedom and Equality" will finally be realized. As peasant uprisings are put down more and more frequently by the Emperor's Musketeers, the calls for revolution are a spark that cannot go ignored much longer... 7th Sea is a game of swashbuckling and intrigue, exploration and adventure! Taking place on the continent of Théah, an inclusive land of magic and mystery inspired by our own Europe, players take on the roles of driven heroes thrown into global conspiracies, ancient ruins, courtly intrigue, high-seas battle, and long-buried forbidden magics. It is a world of sharp blades and sharp wits, where a cutting retort can be just as deadly as a sword’s point!

How to prepare

You will need a webcam, a microphone, Roll20, and Discord. You will need about 6-10 10-sided dice or a dice roller that shows you individual die results. You can read the rules before the game begins, but the system is very easy to pick up as we go - most people I have introduced to the game have learned the core mechanics after the first scene or two.

What I provide

I have dice, all of the books, and plenty of accessories to make this game play very smoothly. Players will receive a link to my Google Drive that contains the 7th Sea quickstart guide at the conclusion to the session to continue their adventures across Theah and beyond!

Gameplay details

Theah is "a more inclusive Europe." The setting is LGBTQIA+ accepting, and sex work isn't just accepted; its unionized. That said, I try to use lines and veils as much as possible and will tailor the game to my table's limits.

How will character creation work

Characters can be created beforehand if you have the 7th Sea books. Characters can also, be created the day of session using the core rule book. Additionally, I will have pre-generated characters available.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
