5E 101: Character Creation

About the adventure

This introduction to 5E Dungeons and Dragons includes a step-by-step walk through of all core character creation aspects. This includes how to generate ability scores, a breakdown of each race, background and class and then going through the motions of creating a character either utilizing Roll20 or a standard 5E character sheet. Perfect for new players just getting into the hobby and should provide them with enough information to create a character on their own after the session.

How to prepare

Just bring a willingness to learn and ask questions. You may read the core rules ahead of time, but it is not required. Great for families trying to learn the system and passing that along to others. Dice will not be required and Character Sheets can be downloaded here: https://media.wizards.com/2016/dnd/downloads/5E_CharacterSheet_Fillable.pdf

What I provide

I will bring my knowledge of the system and my capabilities to instruct you through the process as well as provide access to the Player's Handbook and instruct you on the appropriate page numbers for creation. I'll also provide a "cheat sheet" after the session marking appropriate page numbers in the Player's Handbook for each different section you'll need.

How will character creation work

We will meet on Roll20 and create a 5E character from the core rules using basic Dungeons and Dragons options. We will generate a level 1 character that could be used for future sessions and also explain other fair methods of character creation that should allow them to use that character in virtually any party.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
