About the adventure
Valloren was once a land of incredible wonder; magically lush forests, crystal floating mountains, singing flowers, and perpetually falling snow. But now that world is but a dream, a myth whispered among the sheltered survivors of the Starfall. Over a thousand years have past since Old Valloren was a reality and now, in the short time since the Sanctuaries opened, those sheltered within have set about reforging old alliances and cutting new trails. But the outside world is hostile and chaotic; the Shadowblight spreads, the Cult of the Two-Headed Coin reigns supreme, and wraithlike Seekers-in-Shadow stalk the roads. All of this you must face as you and your allies seek to collect the shattered remains of the Goddess' soul and reignite her Light before all succumbs to the darkness. Inspired by the likes of Silo, Kipo and the Age of the Wonderbeasts, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and The Lord of the Rings. This epic campaign uses the Journey to Horizon framework from the Daggerheart: Hope & Fear Expansion book. Expect strong themes of growing shadows, hope rekindled, and pathways long & winding. Only together can we save a dying world! Scions of the Starfall will ideally last 24-32 sessions taking players from Level 1 to Level 10. The gameplay will lean heavily on roleplay and exploration, with cinematic combat when necessary. We will utilize a world map and our adventure will be greatly influenced by the choices YOU make. Collecting the Soul Echoes will be our mission but the characters you create and the arcs they experience will be at the heart of our story. We will play using Alchemy VTT, which is free to join, easy to use, and beautiful to play. If you don't have Alchemy yet, no worries - I can help you get set up.

Creating your character
All characters will be created/finalized during a Session Zero where I will provide additional info about the setting. Session Zero will also be an opportunity for us to develop a party dynamic, create Connections, and tease potential character arcs. If you have a strong idea for your character prior to Session Zero, I encourage you to reach out and we can discuss any elements that might be worth keeping secret at the top. Note that due to the nature of the Campaign Setting, the following options are unavailable at character creation: - Wanderborne Community - Syndicate Rogue Class - All Transformations
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Hardware: It may be a deal breaker for some but for this campaign I'd prefer to use webcams so that we can better connect during tense character moments. With that in mind, you'll need a mic, webcam, and internet access. Software: We will be using Discord for voice and video calls, along with out-of-game communication. Additionally, we will use Alchemy RPG, for character sheets, digital dice, in-game handouts, and cinematic atmospheres. Both Discord and Alchemy are free to use with an account. Invites to both the Discord server and the Alchemy game will be sent Rules, Setting, & Character Creation will be explained in Session Zero. Should any other questions arise prior to that, please feel free to reach out!
What Justin brings to the table
As a GM, I let the players guide me. I bring a world full of potential and characters full of life. The rest I choose to let go of. I learned early in my TTRPG journey that the game is so much more fun for us all when I truly let go and lean in. My decade of experience as an actor, improviser, and teacher has allowed me to follow my instincts and go with the most creative choice - which often leads to the most compelling stories. And you help with that more than you may think. The more you put into your character's choices, flaws, and desires; the juicier your arc will become throughout the campaign. I'll bring delightful characters with lots of heart, passionate moments of turmoil, and high stakes scenes with everything to lose. Expect rewarding exploration, lots of character voices, and harrowing twists. Let's craft an unforgettable story together!

How Justin creates a safe table
When you make your account on Alchemy RPG you will have the opportunity to add Lines and Veils for yourself. These will be shared with me automatically (and anonymously) when you join the game. Additionally, Alchemy provides a very handy X-Card button on the screen. When pressed, all players are immediately notified but no one is told who pressed it. This anonymous method encourages the use of X-Cards throughout the game.
