About the adventure

Welcome to Time Without Tide, the Lonely Phareflaw, a quickstart adventure from Chaosium. To give you the best idea of the world we will be adventuring in I will let this section from the book do the talking: See those poor, hungry orphans? They seem so sad, cold, and vulnerable. Don’t you want to take them in, give them a better life? Don't be fooled. They’re orphans by choice. They killed their parents and got a taste for parricide. Sign those adoption papers and you’ll be next! Nothing is so grim and dark that it isn’t a little bit funny and nothing lighthearted is unmarred by melancholy. It’s an unserious world, taken extremely seriously. Try to remember that when walloping an ambush of orphans (yes, that is the correct collective noun). -- Before diving into the game, we will take time to learn the basics of the game, get acquainted with our character sheets and go over any key mechanics. BUT we all know the best way to learn is by beginning! We will delve into the adventure, learning as we go. Come delve into this fog-shrouded faux-Victorian apocalyptic world and see what we find....

About me

I am a storyteller and creative with a background in improv and theater. My games focus on collaborative story-telling, putting the players in the driver's seat of the story. As I say before every game, I love to bring chaos to the table and welcomes it back in return. I have been running games professionally in person for about 2 years but have been DMing in general for roughly 10. TTRPGs are the thing that give me the greatest joy in life, there is nothing I love more than getting a group of strangers together and watching them become a party.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will be using the premade characters made available through the quickstart this way we can get into the game as soon as possible! You'll be able to choose from the following: - Cyrena, the last Acol of the Hallowed Light - Lady Hollis Grey, a dangerous freethinker - No Boots, a grubby orphan - Bunk, the sewer smith - Sutler, a previously respected noble - Dr. Vespal, a dead guy (no really he is a corpse)

How Isa The DM creates a safe table

All content warnings/triggers will be listed on the "warnings" text channel on discord. If there is anything that raises alarm bells for you, please reach out. I will also check in roughly an hour before the start of the game if anyone needs to speak to me privately. If during the game, a boundary is crossed, the players can message me and I will pause or stop the scene to lead it elsewhere. If someone needs to take a break or moment away, I encourage them to turn off their camera and microphone with no questions asked.
