About the adventure
Alice is Missing!? Spoiler: yes. We will assume the roles of a group of friends (mostly) in the small and quiet town of Silent Falls. We are trying to retrace the steps of Alice Briarwood, a high school junior, who suddenly went radio silent. Be warned: this is a heavy drama with many possible outcomes. It's possible for this game to touch on many of the subjects you might expect from a story of a missing young woman. (Family trauma, non-consent, physical violence etc) The game takes a little less than a hour to set up. Then, the story begins. Guided by a 90 minute timer/soundtrack, we will message each other with information and clues and actions we're taking to find Alice. As time progresses the game introduces more information, reveals secrets, and takes us ever closer to one of it's incredible conclusions. The game is designed for people to play via text message but if not everyone in the group feels safe with that then we can use discord. No cameras needed. Avatars will be provided for use for the duration of the game.

About me
HELLO! I'm Aza! I was introduced to D&D in my mid twenties and I am now in my early 30's. Suffice it to say the group I was playing with just after the height of Covid was a little more focused on the substances around the table than the content on the table, and while I am by no means a straight edge, it's not what I wanted out of life. After taking a break from D&D I began to miss it very much and decided to try organize my new social circle and daughter to play. Then I learned about a local organized play group in my town and started playing 1 to 5 times per week depending on what my work schedule allowed. I am newer to DMing but I have taken a lot of inspiration from VLDL, and Dimension 20 as far as my philosophy about gaming is concerned, that is to say, roleplay matters, and fun and cool beats rigid and lawyery. With all of the Hasbro stuff lately I'm a bit worried that 5.5e represents the end of D&D. I am SO excited for new systems like DC20 to finish development and if you want to play in the Beta releases of DC20 with me, I have them and would love that! I also own copies of Cairn 2e, Mausritter, Mork Borg, Blades in the Dark, and the (Worlds/Stars/Cities/Ashes) Without Number books. I intend to run free games in some of the prewritten D&D books while I smooth out all of the technical learning but I really look forward to running games in the Obojima setting and eventually creating settings tailored for my players. Creating your character
Character creation is the first 30-45 minutes, you will be assigned one of the people in Alice's life, and a drive and start to consider your relationship and last contact with Alice and how your drive (motivations) shape them. Then we each record a voice memo addressed to alice that will be sent to me to be played at the close of the game. The rest is role play
What to expect
Preparing for the session
We will use my discord server unless all players consent to using texting. So you will need a discord account, a way to send me a voice memo. Additionally, this is a roleplay session of significant emotional weight. Please carefully consider how themes that might come up in the disappearance of a young woman might impact you. (violence, family conflict, homophobia, non-consent, victim blaming, etc) This is a beautiful humanizing and impactful roleplay, but it is not without weight.
What Aza brings to the table
My role in an AiM session is to assist with facilitating play. I will create a space for us to communicate, help you understand your character and the cycle of play, and give you an extra poke if you miss a cue to add your info into the group chat. I will also facilitate safety tools during play and a debrief after play.
