About the adventure

I run the game for noobs and veterans who are willing to forget everything they know about D&D. I use rules, but in the end, the rule-book is just a helpful guide. The actual game is what I describe and the players' reaction. Dice are tools, and will be rolled infrequently. I prefer to GM using text only, so we'll see how that goes. I've been running one-shots and campaigns on Roll20 via text only for several years. It gives the game an entirely different feel, one that you might love, hate, or somewhere in-between.

About me

I go by Venger Satanis (VS for short). I've been involved in TTRPGs for about 40 years, usually GMing. In 2018, I started creating my own campaign setting where I could set the majority of adventures. It's called Cha'alt, and is still going strong. The aesthetic-keys of Cha'alt are eldritch, gonzo, science-fantasy, post-apocalypse, humor, sleaze, pop-culture, and grindhouse exploitation.

Character creation

Creating your character

It would be easiest if folks could download the free rule-set of Advanced Crimson Dragon Slayer, but if you have a character concept in mind, that's really all you need. A few back-and-forth brainstorming and random table results, then we're done. Character creation shouldn't take more than 5 or 10 minutes at the start of the first session. Everyone starts at 1st level.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

There's nothing you have to prepare for, but reading Advanced Crimson Dragon Slayer would help (it's short).

What Venger Satanis brings to the table

As mentioned earlier, I'd like to give the text only style a real try (at least 2 or 3 sessions). This is my first time using the platform, so I'm not sure what kind of art or music I can use, but I do make my own maps and such. Rule of cool always trumps rules as written.

Homebrew rules

All my homebrew rules are in Advanced Crimson Dragon Slayer. A fun one is the Cha'alt X-Cards. Any time a player stimulates one of the 8 aesthetic-keys of the campaign setting (eldritch, gonzo, science-fantasy, post-apocalypse, humor, sleaze, pop-culture, or grindhouse exploitation), I bring more of that thing into the game ASAP. You also get a point of Divine Favor (it's like inspiration).
