About the adventure

In space, no one can hear you scream… In Act I, you will be dropped directly into the final, desperate hours of Hadley’s Hope, a terraforming colony on the moon of LV-426. As low-level contractors, laborers, and security personnel, you aren’t heroes; you are ordinary people, viewed by your employers as corporate assets, caught in a failing facility. The colonial administration has collapsed, communication is dead, and something foreign…no, alien, possibly hostile, is moving through the colony air ducts. Your immediate objective? Survive, and find a way off this rock. Your secret objective? Only you know the truth, along with what lengths you are willing to go to see it through… In Acts II through IV, you will leap six years into the future, with a new crew of blue-collar workers, members of the USS Fidanza, a decaying, rusty star freighter on its final cargo run before being decommissioned. What should be a routine supply drop to the frozen mining moon of Jeremiah VI quickly devolves into a horrific nightmare. The base has gone silent, a fanatical doomsday cult has taken hold among the miners, and a terrifying, alien secret has been unearthed deep within the ice. This is a focused 2-3 session cinematic campaign arc, perfect for players who want a complete sci-fi horror experience with a clear beginning, middle, and end, without a long-term commitment. What to expect at my table: • High Lethality Cinematic Mode: Survival is not guaranteed. The game focuses on atmosphere, narrative pacing, and psychological tension. Characters will die, but the movie keeps rolling! If your end should come to pass, you will immediately step into the shoes of a backup crew member, so you can rest assured you will never miss a minute of the action! • Learn by Playing: We will walk through the cinematic ALIEN RPG mechanics step-by-step in a patient, welcoming environment. Questions are always welcome. • Browser-Based Gameplay: We play on Foundry VTT, with everything fully configured and ready for you. You don't need to download any software; you just click the browser link and play.

About me

I am an experienced DM / GM that has loved tabletop RPG's all my life. It is my hope, if I were to be your DM / GM, that you will have a fun, meaningful, worthwhile experience that will deeply resonate with you. I do personally prefer DM-ing in person; for me, there is magic in the air gaming in person. But obviously, we are here to play virtually to better accommodate everyone's busy schedules, and that is perfectly fine! Also, I run a PG-13 game, so less HBO's Game of Thrones and more Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings. If you made it this far, thank you for your time and consideration! Take care, and well wishes to everyone that reads this.

Character creation

Creating your character

Pre-generated Characters Provided: To maximize our gaming time, lower the bar of entry for new players, and dive straight into the horror, custom character creation will not be used. Everything you need to play, including the pre-generated characters, for this 4-5 session campaign arc will be fully loaded and ready to go with a couple of clicks inside Foundry VTT. Each character comes with their own secret Personal Agendas to drive the cinematic tension. The Anthology Cast: • Hope’s Last Day (Session 1): You will choose from 5 pre-generated contractors desperately fighting to survive the downfall of Hadley’s Hope colony. • Rapture Protocol (Sessions 2-4): Set six years after the events of Hope’s Last Day, step into the shoes of 5 new pre-generated characters, the blue-collar crew of the freighter USS Fidanza. Claiming Your Hero: When you log into the server on gameday, everyone will have an opportunity to look over the available characters. Selection order will be determined by the order in which players signed up for the campaign.

What Chris brings to the table

My GM Style & What I Provide • The Flow: I have come to believe that GM style is unique to everyone who has done this for a while. My style focuses on strong pacing and atmosphere. Specific to ALIEN RPG, I try to build slow, psychological tension with a focus on player agency, and letting the horror exist, before hitting you with fast-pace action. • Immersion: I utilize a mix of third-person narration, and first-person character voices for NPC's and monsters. Also, I have recently been playing some of my favorite music in the background for ambience, and to set the mood for the adventure. • The Rules: I enjoy utilizing the "Rule of Cool,” though for this specific game it will be de-emphasized somewhat. I ultimately believe less in strict, unyielding textbook rules and more in flexible, fair rulings to keep the game fun and moving forward, regardless of the system used. • The Software: You will be provided access to a cloud-hosted Foundry VTT game world. It features automated character sheets, tokens, dynamic maps, and fog-of-war lighting, so that everyone can focus entirely on playing the adventure.

Safety

How Chris creates a safe table

Table Tone & Safety Tools • Tone: Specific to ALIEN RPG, the tone I will endeavor to uphold will be an R-rated sci-fi horror thriller. This ultimately means the game will feature psychological dread, corporate betrayal, lethal combat, and body horror. It is a game about ordinary people caught up in terrifying, high-stakes survival adventures. • Lines & Veils: Note that these adventures do contain body horror, visceral descriptions of alien encounters, violence, and corporate ruthlessness. However, my hard lines remain absolute: there will be no sexual violence, or gratuitous torture. Anything questionable or uncomfortable outside of the standard expectations of the Alien franchise will cleanly "fade-to-black" (veiled) to keep the focus entirely on the adventure at hand. • The X, N, and O Cards: There is a module for Foundry VTT that allows for displaying the X and N cards (though O is curiously absent.) I will instruct my players how to use this module before the session begins. I will also let everyone know they can also type X, N, or O directly into Foundry's chat box, and I will adapt the scene as necessary, no questions asked, and keep the story moving forward. • Breaks: Having run quite a bit of tabletop RPG's at conventions, I admit that I am used to running through sessions without taking a break. However, I will make it clear to my players that if a break is needed, just let me know, and we will take one immediately. • Stars & Wishes: I intend to close every session with a quick feedback loop. Players will get to share their 'Stars' and 'Wishes'. I'm looking forward to this quite a bit!
