About the adventure

You lost something at the Feywild Carnival, which visits every eight years. The Carnival has returned, and you're going back… You want that missing part of yourself back! This draws you into a Feywild adventure, where three antagonists have turned the world upside down and you'll be doing your best to put it right… hopefully. As you travel through the Feywild, you'll make friends and find whimsical creatures that need your help. Combat is often optional: roleplay can be an effective a way through, as can a well-timed creative idea. And this being the Feywild, what might once have been a hangry Troll could now be sitting on a stump, learning to whistle. Throughout the adventure, every major character has their own motivations for helping or hindering you. The part of yourself that's missing can be as simple as the ability to write tidily, or only being able to speak at full volume, the choice is yours. These make for wonderful roleplay hooks. Things to expect: ROLEPLAY:🎭🎭🎭🎭 EXPLORATION: 🗺️🗺️ COMBAT: 🗡️🗡️ LORE: 📘📘 PUZZELS:🧩 Join me for a whimsically magical tale unlike any other. Where mystery, wonder and mischief, reign supreme!

About me

Hey there, my name is Jean-Paul and I'm known as Japes (jay-ps). I'll be your Game Master and a responsible for bringing the games together. Fair warning, I'm dyslexic and have a dry sense of humour. Both rule KO here… I’ve been running games since I was a kid. Back then it was just D&D, since then its beena blast running games like Shadowrun, Call of Cthulhu, Vaesen, Discworld and recently Mothership. During all of those games I’ve found that the shared experience of these fantasy worlds is like a simmering cauldron: we all put our ideas in, and give it a gentle stir. Meaning at this table, there is plenty of room for your imagination to take flight... just don't be like Icarus! All the games I run are in a safe, creative space. All I ask from you is to be courteous to everyone in the game. It doesn't matter if you're playing a 1920s FBI agent in a Cthulhu Mythos romp, a piece of Sapient Pearwood in Discworld, or a Fairy Barbarian who growls at enemies, play them like you’re there. Join us in a game. I can't wait to see how your fun ideas work out.

Character creation

Creating your character

• 5.5e (2024) rules are in use • D&D Beyond will be used for character creation • Species & Classes options using many of the 5.5e (2024) books. • Ability rolls will be 4d6 dropping lowest. Any totals below 74, can be re-rolled, which is better than Points Buy. • Equipment: Starting as this is a new campaign. • Magical item: to be acquired

What to expect

Preparing for the session

What I do hope you'll bring: • As roleplay will be a large part of the adventure, a willingness to fully participate. • Being a cooperative player and for the party to be likewise. • No need for a 'character voice', but this is a safe and welcoming place to give it a try if you'd like to. Equipment • A reliable PC with a Chromium-based browser. • A working gaming headset, or a mic and headphones. • A webcam as it really does add to the experience of roleplay. • Free accounts for the systems we use. I'll send links after you've joined.

What Japes brings to the table

• I bring the NPCs to life with voices of their own, and love it even more when players join in too. • Colour, hand-drawn maps and all the great features FoundryVTT has to offer. • Background music, with the volume fully in your control. • Storytelling that brings real narrative suspense to the table. • A sprinkle of dry humour that gives every game its own unique flavour.

Safety

How Japes creates a safe table

• There will be a google form for Lines and Veils. This way the full list is brought to the table. • I'm committed to making these games inclusive for every player at the table. • We'll take a 5–10 minute break halfway through the session, plenty of time to top up drinks and snacks. • Should you join after the initial Session 0, we'll have a 1-to-1 session0 before you embark on the adventure. This is a paid session.
