About the adventure

An Ancient Forge. A Frontier Town. A Legend Reborn. Welcome to Dungeons & Dragons! What starts as a simple job guarding a wagon of supplies for the Gundren Rockseeker brothers quickly spirals into a thrilling wilderness investigation and dungeon crawl across the rugged frontier of the Sword Coast. Nestled in the foothills of the Sword Mountains, the sleepy town of Phandalin hides dark secrets: ruthless bandit gangs, goblin raiders, and rumors of the long-lost Wave Echo Cave, a legendary site of immense magical power. Whether you are stepping into the boots of an adventurer for the very first time or looking to test out the updated D&D 2024 (5.5e) ruleset, this classic (and now famous) campaign offers the quintessential high-fantasy experience. What the Table Experience Looks Like: Expect a rich blend of tactical combat, rewarding exploration, and immersive roleplay. As your Dungeon Master, I prioritize narrative momentum, memorable NPC encounters with distinct character voices, and dynamic battlefields where smart strategy and high-stakes choices matter. We build a heroic, collaborative environment where creative solutions are always encouraged, backstories are woven directly into the local lore, and every player gets their moment in the spotlight. Who This Game Is For: This campaign is custom-tailored for... Brand New Players: Looking for an inviting, stress-free environment to learn D&D fundamentals, character creation, and Virtual Tabletop tools. Veterans & Returning Gamers: Excited to experience a polished, high-production run of a iconic adventure updated for the 2024 core rules engine. Story-Driven Adventurers: Who enjoy meaningful choices, faction intrigue, character-centric RP, and memorable, tactical combat encounters. Now step into the tavern, sharpen your blades, and prepare to make your mark on Phandalin. The adventure of a lifetime awaits!

About me

Hi, I'm Bruce! I’m a Game Master dedicated to delivering deeply immersive, character-driven adventures, thanks to my background in theater and a passion for many tabletop RPGs. Here's What I Bring to the Table: Performative Roleplay: I act out unique voices, personalities, and mannerisms for every single NPC to make the world feel alive. Master Storyteller: I weave rich, layered plots that react dynamically to your choices. Your character's backstory isn't just flavor text, I want it to directly help drive the narrative. Player-First Focus: I balance deep lore with high agency and fluid pacing. I prioritize table mood, momentum, and the "rule of cool" over rigid rules-lawyering. High-Stakes Encounters: From atmospheric horror to tactical combat, every session is designed to keep you on the edge of your seat. Whether you're a veteran player or brand new to the hobby, my goal is to give you an unforgettable story where your hero takes center stage!

Character creation

Creating your character

You can build a custom Level 1 character using official D&D 5e options (Player’s Handbook, Tasha's Cauldron, Xanathar's Guide). Stat generation will be completed via Point Buy or Standard Array on D&D Beyond using my campaign link to share access to those sourcebooks at no extra cost.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Before our first official gathering, please complete the following: Discord Account: Create a free Discord (used for video/voice chat) account and join our dedicated campaign server. D&D Beyond Account: Create a free D&D Beyond account to access character sheets and shared campaign sourcebooks. This will also be the website for our VTT to see maps and tokens. Hardware Check: Verify your microphone, headphones, and internet connection are set up and functioning clearly.

What Bruce brings to the table

Full digital access to necessary D&D 5e sourcebooks via D&D Beyond campaign sharing. High-quality digital maps, token artwork, and custom tactical grids. Immersive, thematic ambient audio and soundtrack elements streamed directly through Discord via Pocket Bard. Safety

How Bruce creates a safe table

Player safety, respect, and comfort are absolute top priorities at my table. We will conduct a brief Session 0 check-in to confirm boundaries, set expectations, and review digital X, N, & O safety signals. After each session, our Discord server maintains an open space for debriefing and aftercare to ensure everyone feels supported both in and out of character.
