About the adventure

The mission is simple: Deliver a box to the coastal village of Helmrend. But you’ve been urged to hurry, because time is running out. The once-idyllic little village is increasingly plagued by strange attacks. And the closer you get to the village, the more you can feel it… Something isn’t right here. Something lies dormant there. Something awaits you. _____ You’re in for an exciting introduction to the Daggerheart system, which offers you the opportunity to try out most of its core mechanics. Teamwork, combat, and mysterious discoveries are all equally central to the experience. _____ If you bring a friend both of you will pay less!

About me

I've been playing Pen&Paper since 2015 and GMing since about 2018. But storytelling has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. When I discovered Pen&Paper I quickly realized that DMing is THE creative output I didn't know I was made for. Building worlds, weaving plots, portraying memorable NPCs, and watching players change the story through their choices... just creating an amazing colletive story, is exactly what I thrive on... after all Pen&Paper is just a collective hallucination and improv theatre, is it not? :p Over the years I've run everything from classic high fantasy and gothic horror to sci-fi adventures. Star Wars, zombie apocylpses or a modern boarding school for kids with special abilities - my head is filled with ideas that long to be experienced and shaped through roleplay and shiny click-clacks! My passion for Pen&Paper truly has no off-switch. Writing 28 different letters filled with clues for a mystery? Oh yes. Drawing Maps and Characters? Yes. Running a One-Shot for a 10th birthday? Count me in. Spending hours perfecting dynamic lighting or creating playlists for every possible scene? My understanding of me-time. Thanks to my never ending Hyperfocus.

Character creation

Creating your character

Depending on your experience and prefference: 1. Pick a prepared character 2. Bring your own (either as a PDF or paper sheet, or through Demiplane) 3. We will get together before the session and create one together (free of charge) The characters should be Level 1 but will leve up once throughout the adventure. Which means that you can have Tier 1 or Tier 2 equipment.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You are going to need a Discord and Roll20 Account (you will receive the links once you've signed up) as well as a microphone and a webcam. A demiplane account is optional, if you want to integrate your character sheet to roll20.

What Mika brings to the table

This One Shot will take place in a small homebrew setting which you will discover through a variety of ways: - Synchronized ambiance music - High-quality maps on Roll20 - NPC images and scenaric descriptions - Unique NPCs through light voice acting, facial expressions and mannerisms - Virtual Props My main focus as a GM is immersion, cinematic descriptions and memorable roleplay. Since the OneShot is an introduction to the System, there will be at least one fight, but if the group feels up for it, (and your actions call for it) there might be three. It's entirely up to you how challenged you want to be. There will also be a lunch break, your choice how long it will be. But feel more than free to snack trhoughout the session (I will too hehe)

Safety

How Mika creates a safe table

Before the Game: Everyone can fill out the Lines and Veils document. During the Game: Although the OneShot is “light fare,” if something makes you uncomfortable, you can call for a break, temporarily leave the call, or send me a private message on Discord and I’ll adjust, skip or change the scene accordingly. After the Game: Our After Care looks like a few rounds of Make It Meme and reflecting on the adventure. I’m always open to constructive criticism and happy to hear it, whether as a message afterward or a group conversation.
