About the adventure

Hello and welcome all! Monster sightings are on the rise. Growing in both number and overall power. Within the magical weave that purveys the land, an instability blossoms. Crops dwindle compared to years past and tension rises between nations. Fights over lands, resources, and secure shipping lanes have begun. Because of this, your adventuring guild has dispatched you to one of the contested zones. A simple, but tense, assignment to sit at the border and make sure they change no further than they already have. Neither side wishes to be the spark for the tinders of war. But fate had other plans for you. It is not a battle between adventurers and soldiers that decimates the border encampments. It is something not seen in this land for ages. Dragons. And their monstrous hoards ambush both sides. Leaving almost all fallen in their wake. Whether you consider it good luck or bad luck, you number among the handful of survivors from both sides. And despite whatever side you may have been on before, you find yourself having to ally with these few living adventurers should you wish to survive this predicament. Good luck brave adventurers.

About me

Hello and welcome all. I have been playing tabletop games for nearly three decades now and GMing for at least half of that time. I love making homebrew worlds and designing tabletop games. It's always a treat to try a new system, even if it can be overwhelming at first. Though my primary GM experience is with DnD 5e & Pathfinder 2E nowadays, I have played many other systems in my time. I pride myself as a GM who is always open to player input and modifying things. After all, the goal of any tabletop experience is to have fun.

Character creation

Creating your character

The first session will be a "Session 0". We can start with the safety questions, and discover what everyone in the campaign is comfortable with. And what themes or style they would like to see in the campaign. Then we can work on character creation and backstories. How they fit into the world. Once everyone is ready, we can start with the beginning hook.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will use a combination of Roll20 and Discord. You will get a link to both when you join the game.

What Nicolas brings to the table

Ambient music is optional. I like to play background style music to get myself in the right mood and headspace, without being too distracting. As for encounters, I like for them to happen as naturally as possible. Sometimes this means having specific enemies and maps prepped before hand. And sometimes it means quickly drawing up a map as the entire table stumbles onto something unexpectedly. And I am always willing to tune them up or down to fit the player's needs. I generally try and stay within the rules, but I encourage player creativity and do my best to reward it. I think this balanced approach helps keep things both fair and fun!

Homebrew rules

I like to give all players the free archetype feats. Player suggestions welcome. Additions may by made throughout the campaign.

Safety

How Nicolas creates a safe table

If you are ever feeling unsafe or uncomfortable, please feel free to contact me. You can speak up immediately during a game or message me via directly via campaign resources. That being said, I always like to start with a Session 0 with all players. That way we as a table can discuss both what we want to see in a campaign and what we don't want to see. I am adaptable and willing to modify content for each unique table and experience. I will make sure my players are both having fun and feeling safe. As such, I like to go over and create the Lines and Veils as a group. Lines being things that will not appear in the campaign or be mentioned during play. Veils being things that can happen in the background of the world, but should never be focused on. Finally, after each session, I like to do a check-in with all players. This is both for quality control and maintaining expectations, but also for player safety.
