About the adventure

Doskvol is burning. Crow's Foot, the city's infamous heart of crime, has been obliterated by a supernatural explosion. Spirit Fires consume the ruins. Thousands are dead, and their ghosts are beginning to haunt the streets beyond the district. The authorities are overwhelmed, the surviving gangs are scrambling for territory, and nobody knows what caused the Ghostfall. You are the survivors. This is Blades in the Dark with a twist. The crew doesn't begin as an established gang of criminals, they begin as ordinary people (as ordinary you can be), gang members, criminals, workers, and anyone else unlucky enough to have been caught in Crow's Foot when it happened. Your first score isn't a heist. It's escaping a burning district alive. But Crow's Foot is full of things worth finding, and not everyone is afraid of the ruins. As the city reels from the disaster, you'll have opportunities to profit from the chaos, establish a new crew, delve into the devastated district, clash with rival survivors, and uncover the truth behind the Ghostfall. New players preferred but everyone is welcome!

About me

I've been a Game Master for several years, running a wide variety of tabletop RPGs with wildly different settings, themes, and tones. I'm also an aspiring voice actor, so performance and character work are a big part of what I enjoy about running games. I've built entire worlds from scratch, run published modules, repaired modules that needed some help, and improvised entire sessions because my players decided to do something completely different from what I expected. I've had tables and players stick around for years, which has taught me a lot more than simply knowing the rules ever could. I've run enough different kinds of games to be comfortable adapting to the table in front of me. Sometimes that means carefully prepared encounters and storylines; sometimes it means throwing the notes away because the party just came up with something much more interesting. At the end of the day, I run games because I like playing games. I want the people at my table to have something they can look forward to every week, and I want to see what happens when I give them a world and let them loose in it.

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will be created during the first session, and session 0 itself will be play through the first moments of the Ghostfall and finish with a (hopefully!) successful escape. We'll be using only the base BITD book unless an idea for a chacter really sounds out, then it'll be a conversation.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will be using a Discord server made for this campaign for voice chat, and Roll20 for the game itself. A webcam is not required for this game. Voice and a reliable internet connection is required.

What !ris brings to the table

I do character voices which will range from obnoxious to silly to decent, and everywhere between. I try to include a dramatic use of music in my arsenal of storytelling. This game will be far more focused on intrigue, quick wits, quicker plans, and dangerous gambits than being combative and tactical, although it has it's place when the plan fails.

Safety

How !ris creates a safe table

I use lines and veils to start with, my own first which include; Sexual Assault (line), Torture (line), Spiders (veil). And then I give a moment of silence so players can message me privately to include other lines and veils. If any other topic arises, or a moment is making people uncomfortable, I also include the use of something called an 'X' card, which can be played at anytime, either publicly or privately to where we'll take a few minutes break, talk things over, and either walk around it or simply change scenes into the next moment. Post session I'll also check in with everyone at the table and then privately via discord just to make sure everyone is comfortable and okay going forwards. This is something we do for fun, so making anyone feel uncomfortable is a failure on my part.
