About the adventure
The moon fell, the fog rose, and now stepping outside the light risks injury, death, or worse. In Time Without Tide, a new game system from Chaosium, you take up the role of a Delver and join a crew who risk everything to gain fame and fortune exploring the fog and the world lost when it rose. This is an introductory adventure, designed for people new to roleplaying or to the system itself and will introduce you to the world of Mirth and Mystery, a combination of Steampunk, horror and light hearted responses to the challenges the characters face. In Lonely Phareflaw, your crew will investigate the cause of a lighthouse going dark, which puts at risk the "slightly safer" travel across the water surrounding the city of Saltport. A mix of cobbled-together equipment and mutated modifications prepares you all for stepping into the fog and putting things right.

About me
Thirty years behind the screen, and the best moments are still the ones nobody planned. I run games where the story belongs to everyone at the table. You bring a character with something to prove, I bring a world that reacts, and between us we find out what happens. There will be combat, puzzles and hard choices, but they are there to feed the story rather than interrupt it. I run everything from one-shots that teach a whole system in a single evening through to long campaigns that take a group from strangers to the people standing between the world and its ending. A lot of what I do is first games for new players, and that has shaped how I run every table: nobody gets talked over, everyone gets a moment that belongs to them, and if describing your character's actions does not come naturally to you yet, I will help you find it. If you have never picked up a die, you are welcome. If you have been playing for decades, so have I.

Creating your character
As an introductory adventure, pre-generated characters will be provided. Each character has skills and equipment suitable for the challenges they will face in this one-shot.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
The game will be run using video (optional for players) and audio in Alchemy RPG, each player will need to signup for a free account (https://app.alchemyrpg.com/) if you don't have one already. A Discord account will help with onboarding and preparation for the session (a link will be sent on sign-up) but can also be done by StartPlaying messaging if you don't have a Discord account.
What GM Paul M brings to the table
As an introductory session I'll make sure everyone is comfortable with the rules and, importantly, come away from the game with a sense of the atmosphere of the setting and gameplay (the what makes Time Without Tide different). We'll use visuals, maps and dice rolling in Alchemy and I'll help ensure the tools don't get in the way of the roleplaying.
Homebrew rules
As this is an introduction for players to the new Time Without Tide system, we'll be sticking to the rules as written as much as possible, but if your action sounds cool I'll make it work.
