About the adventure

Nobody wants to go to Barovia. And those who live here are desperate to leave. Yet, here you are! One moment you're sitting in the tavern drinking ale, the next you're standing in a fog so thick you can't see your own hands. Welcome to a land ruled by Count Strahd von Zarovich, πŸ§›πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ a vampire who's had four hundred years to be bored. And you? You're the newest toy. Who to trust? Who can help? That kindly old priest? Might be hiding something. The girl with the red hair? Her brother? The Abbot? Are you sure? What's that voice in your head? What is a nightmare or reality? Is that your past coming for you? A horror survival campaign, where danger and fun are at every corner. Your goal is to be free again. But at what cost? Never played D&D before? No stress, I'll walk you through everything as we go. Been playing for years? Do you think you can survive? Already played this campaign? I assure you it won't be the same. What you do and who you trust actually matters. My campaigns are prepared with the characters backstories in mind. The decisions you make and the dice will influence how the world reacts. I run my games in Alchemy VTT and I use digital maps from several artists in Patreon and music from Tabletop Audio.

About me

Gen-X, πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ LGBT+, she/her, πŸ₯Ύ I like to hike while plotting my sessions, πŸ§‘πŸ½β€πŸŽ¨ painting miniatures for my games. I was introduced to D&D in 2020 by a friend who asked for two hours of our time as her birthday present so she could try a new game β€” and here we are six years later, loving every minute of it. In 2021 I decided to try DMing and discovered the other side of the game, the one that reconnected me with the creative teenager in me. I've been DMing since then, and last year I branched out into Daggerheart. I have thousands of hours of experience running games both online, with Alchemy RPG, and in person. I'm dedicated to reaching a satisfying conclusion for every campaign β€” including yours. I've run published modules, but never quite "as written" β€” they become open worlds where you and the dice tell the story. I always adapt the adventure around your PC backstory and create the opportunities you need to achieve the goals you set for yourselves (or not...). Preparation and improvisation are the cornerstones of my sessions. Session 0 can make or break a campaign, so I always make sure mine are thorough. It's the time for me to get to know you, introduce you to the world and what to expect, establish rules and limits, and find out your preferences and expectations. For online games I use Alchemy VTT with animated digital maps, music, and sound. My webcam is always on; for you it's optional.

Character creation

Creating your character

A session 0 will be booked, to introduce you to the adventure where we will do character creation, discuss content, safety tools, house rules. The books you may use : Players Handbook 2024, Ravenloft the Horrors Within. You'll need a dnd beyond account. I will create the campaign there and share my books, so you don't need to buy anything.

The current party

We'll try to create a balanced party, but what is important is that you play the character that you want. We discuss character creation in session zero, but you're welcome to bring your character already done if you wish. Use point buy or standard array for the ability scores.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You'll need an account in Alchemy RPG, this is the VTT where we'll be playing the game. A microphone, a webcam (optional) and a Discord account so you can join my server. DnD Beyond Account to create your character and access my books, notebook(optional). Regarding dice I normally use the honor system. Which means, you can roll physical dice on your side and I trust that you're not cheating. It's also possible to use digital dice on the VTT. I personally use real dice, so if you want to use the honor system you also need at least one set of dice. If you have any questions let me know. :)

What Ana aka Peace of Wine brings to the table

Player agency is the cornerstone of this campaign β€” the decisions you make, along with the dice, shape your story, your future and how well that will go. The adventure has more roleplay than combat. However, you can access all of Barovia, so beware that combats are unbalanced. It's up to you to decide when to fight or when to flee. This is a very deadly world β€” I will do my best not to kill your character, but sometimes the dice don't cooperate. You're welcome to have a backup character. I have beautiful digital maps, introductory scenes, and music and sounds from Tabletop Audio. I can do a few voices, but I'm not a voice actor β€” I'm just a normal GM who wants to have fun and make sure their players have fun too.

Homebrew rules

I have a few homebrew house rules: - Healing: Healing spells or Potions of healing always do max dice value + what you roll. For example: Potion of Healing 2d4 + 2 = 8 + roll dice + 2. - Critical hits follow the same criteria - Equipment: Starting equipment + 150 gp

Safety

How Ana aka Peace of Wine creates a safe table

- The session 0 will cover content and disclose what disturbing contents will be on the campaign. - Establish hard and soft lines besides other house rules. - Player behaviour at the table. What is permitted or not. - Red Line will be established. - During game X cards will be available. - I don't do detailed descriptions on blood, gore, body horror, because I don't enjoy it myself.
