About the adventure

This game is a series of interconnected short one-shots, perfect for learning 13th Age, and also meeting new players and a new GM. If you like the group, maybe you can play with them again later! I use Discord, Foundry VTT (via Forge) and 13th Age on its second edition. I also use a live webcam, as I believe facial expression improve a lot the game. I invite you to do the same, but it is required. The 5 adventures will be in a rotation form. You don't need to play one to follow the next, nor have to use the same characters (but you do get incremental advances if you do so). Session 1: The Prisoner of Roachdale Session 2: Sleeping Dragons Session 3: Into the Necropolis Session 4: The Necropolis Maze Session 5: The City of the Dead Session 6: The Lich King's Vault

About me

Hello, I'm Daniel (he/him), GM and DM of multiple games for a few decades. Favorite game is definitely D&D, in all of its incarnations. My favorite D&D flavors are Daggerheart, Pathfinder 2E and 13th Age, but I have ran Tyranny of Dragons twice using 5E. I also ran a lot of Ars Magica, and a bit of Call of Cthulhu, various Superheroes games, Star Wars, Warhammer, Invisible Suns, Vampire and more. Currently running a Ars Magica Saga on Mondays and Daggerheart on Thursdays. I love to play games in person, and I'm generally very happy GMing, but I do like to play from time to time. I'm also a dad of two twins, love to paint miniatures and play music (mostly bass). I also play video games, like FFXIV and Path of Exile. I work for a large Internet company on the music space and I live in California.

Character creation

Creating your character

Pre-gen characters will be offered. Currently Barbarian, Cleric, Fighter, Ranger, Rogue and Sorcerer are available. I can also coordinate to create a new character sheet off hours if you want.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

If you don't have an account at forge-vtt, it will speed things. You should also have a discord account, and discord already configured with audio working properly before the session.

What Daniel brings to the table

My main focus as a GM is to keep the pacing the adventure on the move. I start on time and end on time! While I try to keep on Rules as Written as much as possible, I will skip/simplify rules if helps with the pace of the game. Combats can be intense, but you should be empowered to try to be heroic. It is ok to have quick turns (and 13th age rewards the heroes that pass turns quickly with an increased escalation die!). VTT usage is not the focus, but we will use it to track abilities and combat. Expect to improvise scenes and collaborate with the world building.

Safety

How Daniel creates a safe table

Since this is a sequence of one-shots in campaign format, I will not have a comprehensive session zero or lines and veils document, put I expect this game to adhere to a strict PG-13 approach. Please avoid too descriptive violence, sexual suggestions or heavy profanity, and interrupt the game at any time if you get uncomfortable.
