About the adventure
I highly prize players new RPG players, and new to Genesys! You're always the best at thinking outside the box. In honor of the announcement of World of Warcraft Forever!: Legacy of Durotar act 1: The Founding of the Crossroads In the first months after the defeat of the Burning Legion upon Mount Hyjal and the founding of Orgrimmar. The gulches and ravines of durotar have been settled by the New Horde, but for a wild land to be tamed, more resources must be claimed. By charter inked by Far Seer Drek’thar and signed by Warlord Thrall, you have been tasked with expanding the nascent reach of the New Horde into the massive savannah known simply as the Barrens. Many races of Azeroth, mighty and proud, call this land their home, as do beasts ferocious and cunning enough to savage the most practiced big game hunters of the Eastern Kingdoms. To the decadent races of the world, like the Night Elves, this land may seem poor, but its wealth is plain to the resourceful; fresh water is known to fill flourishing oases deep in the hinterlands, and low grasses make for prime grazing land. Even trade flows from the pirate ports to the east into uncharted countries far and wide. With, an aging kodo, a week’s worth of food, and four of the least lazy peons in all of Kalimdore, you will travel from the Valley of Honor to meet an up-and-coming Goblin engineer named Gazlowe along the so-called Gold Road at the crossroads of the New World and set yourselves to work. ** To successfully plot the destiny of the Horde, the party of pioneers must survive a brutal and uncharted land, engage in diplomacy with fierce native tribes protecting their ancestral homes and cultures, and build an outpost that can weather it all and lead into the future. ** Much like fledgling adventurers leaving Durotar or Brill, the players will face a heroic but challenging world. Teamwork (and phat lootz) will be necessary to keep you alive.

About me
I’m James, and I love being a GM (way more than I like being a player). When I was a teenager in the 00’s, I couldn’t even get my closest friends to commit to a game of D&D. It was too nerdy, they’d said, even for them! (it wasn’t) Now that being a nerd is cool, I’m making up for lost time. Over the last 8 years, I’ve run a good hundred sessions of various game systems over different media for my friends. While I have and will run adventures, I prefer games as sandbox. I read more non-fiction than fiction, so my games have a focus that reflects my interests in economics, politics, and generally in verisimilitude; I’m less interested in exploring power fantasies than in exploring labor disputes and peculiar social traditions. That also means I work hard to create worlds and scenarios which do not revolve around the player, in which players are active agents in their own story rather than simply reacting to what I throw at them. I really love new players, especially the ones who don’t even know there’s a ‘box’ that they’ve been thinking outside of. Oh, and I’ll have a Master’s in Education at the end of December, so I believe me when I say I do not mind teaching new players. I recommend at least one in every game.

Creating your character
Players are free to create their characters on their own time, or with the group at the FREE session zero. Lovers of Warcraft, and all new players are welcome. Genesys is an elegant and exciting game system perfect for heroic adventure, and I am an educator happy to teach.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
All you need is discord and a microphone. All scenes are played in theatre of the mind aided by visual and audio elements.
What James brings to the table
I like to facilitate sandbox games where player agency and character goals form the foundation for scenarios, events, and the movement of the plot; you won't be chasing around the villain reacting to her actions. The first arc will be presented to players (the founding of the Crossroads), who will use their ideas and their character’s skills to progress in a small box. But like WoW, multiple zones will open up as player and character goals set the stage for the next arc.
Homebrew rules
This game will use the setting neutral Genesys system, which, with its unique dice system, creates collaborative storytelling, dramatic events and heroic combat. A document with setting-appropriate races, classes, skills, spell adjustments, and other modifications will be made available. Genesys is an intentionally modifiable system, so player ideas for spells, weapons, talents, skills, and so on are welcomed and encouraged for consideration.

Safety
How James creates a safe table
This game will be played to have no content that is not already present in WoW, or otherwise inappropriate for a Teen rating. X, N, and O cards are employed for players to address scenes that begin to abridge the above expectations. Stars and Wishes are important for making the game fun, and for designing future sessions around the goals of players and their characters which is also a personal design goal and philosophy.
