About the adventure
From the haunted halls of the Sunless Citadel to the legendary depths of Undermountain, with a few surprises of my own sprinkled in, this campaign weaves together the classic adventures of Tales from the Yawning Portal into one epic story spanning levels 1 through 20. Along the way you'll negotiate with rival factions, uncover ancient mysteries, outwit fiendish traps, and face dragons, demons, and some of the most iconic villains in Dungeons & Dragons history. This is a campaign for players who enjoy the full D&D experience. Combat matters, but so do exploration, investigation, diplomacy, and creative problem solving. Many encounters can be overcome through clever thinking rather than brute force, and your choices will shape how the world reacts to your party. The dungeons are dangerous, living places—not collections of disconnected encounters—and success often depends as much on planning and teamwork as on the roll of the dice. Whether you're brand new to D&D or a veteran looking to revisit some of the greatest adventures ever published, you'll find a welcoming table focused on collaborative storytelling, memorable characters, and exciting tactical combat. I encourage roleplaying without requiring acting ability, and I strive to give every character moments to shine. New players are always welcome, and I'll happily help with character creation and learning the rules. If you've ever wanted to experience the adventures that defined generations of D&D players—or discover them for the first time—grab your gear, gather your courage, and step through the doors of the Yawning Portal. Legends await below.

About me
I started running D&D as a kid in 1984 with a battered boxed set from a rummage sale, my brothers, and a couple of neighbors. I kept playing through the Satanic Panic years (sometimes underground), and I’m still doing what I love—helping the dice tell stories. I’ve played and run a wide range of systems, including D&D, Star Frontiers, and Boot Hill. By day, I’m a high school teacher (History, Geography, Government, and French), and by night I’m a published novelist—so clear communication, strong atmosphere, distinct characters, and meaningful choices are at the center of every game I run. I often say there are two kinds of tables: those that play a game with a story attached, and those that tell a story with a game attached. I run the latter. My style is story-forward and roleplay-focused, with room for tactics, humor, and heroics—but always with character at the center. I aim for tables where everyone shares the spotlight, which is why I cap my games at 4–5 players. My tables are inclusive, respectful, and welcoming. I’m also beginner-friendly. If you’re looking for immersive stories, shared spotlight, and a GM who treats your character as part of the narrative—not just a stat block—I’d love to have you at my table.

What Scott brings to the table
My goal is simple: create a game you'll still be talking about years from now. You'll find tactical combat that rewards teamwork and clever play, but combat is only one part of the adventure. Expect memorable NPCs with distinct personalities and voices, mysteries to unravel, meaningful roleplaying opportunities, and difficult decisions where there isn't always a "right" answer. Every encounter has a purpose, and the world reacts to your choices. I run my games primarily Rules as Written, but I'm not interested in stopping the action to argue over a rule. If an obscure situation comes up, I'll make a quick ruling, keep the game moving, and look up the official answer afterward if needed. Creative solutions are always encouraged, and if you come up with an idea that's clever, cinematic, and fits the moment, expect me to work with you rather than against you. You'll play on high-quality maps using dynamic lighting and detailed tokens, with combat that is tactical without bogging down the session. I enjoy bringing NPCs to life through voices and mannerisms, but roleplaying is never mandatory—whether you love speaking in character or prefer describing your actions in third person, you'll fit right in at my table. Above all, this is a collaborative game. Every character deserves moments to shine, every player deserves to be heard, and everyone at the table should leave looking forward to the next session.

How Scott creates a safe table
I will send out my lines and veils document before we get started. All lines and veils will be made known to all players and I will expect adherence. If you have concerns about content not listed on my L&V, let me know and we can work something out. Above all, I expect players to respect each other and will remove players who are not able to do so if and when problematic behavior is brought to their attention.
