About the adventure

After landing on Samsa VI, the storm picks up and makes your off-planet communications crackle. There's only one chance you have, and that's to seek shelter in the abandoned Labs. You're here to investigate what the hell is wrong with Greta Base. They've been silent for more than a month now, something is for sure wrong. You're here to find out what, surviving is a bonus. You will have to piece together what is going on, all while exploring an abandoned outpost on an alien planet. This introductory adventure shows what Mothership is about: This is the worst day of your life, chased by huge monsters in a scifi setting while you spray and pray that at least your death will be swift. Tech is both modern and ancient, with wired robots connecting to consoles, and energy shields. Tone: Sci-Fi, CassettePunk, Androids, Transformations, Aliens.

About me

Heyo, I'm Shiv! I've been playing D&D for over a decade now and have DMed regularly since 2018. I have since branched out to other systems, to learn lessons from all of them that i can bring to the table. The main thing I would say about myself is that I tend to really take to heart what my players tell me, and i try to manage tables where everyone knows they have their own say where the story is going. I truly believe that as the GM you should always challenge your players while being their FIRST and BEST fan; because of this difficult balance of challenge and heroism, I tend to check up on my players often as a sort of mini session 0: How's it going? How's your character feeling? Did you like that one side quest? Should we change that backstory of an NPC to maybe connect it to you? These are all questions that are in my mind when preparing a session and beyond. I've had experience as a tutor and teacher so I like to teach new people how to play RPGs together, so I have an easy time explaining the rules and helping players create characters that best fit their ideas.

Character creation

Creating your character

I can give you pregenerated characters so you don't have to worry about that, but we can also create characters together in the session 0 where i will explain the rules, create the characters with you on the Mothership Companion, and answer any questions you have.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will play through Discord and the Mothership Companion app (both web and phone)

What Shiv brings to the table

Mothership is a game about Sci-Fi Horror. No one is coming to save you, and as the Player's Survival Guide (note the name) mentions, this is the worst day of the character's life. I'll give you a tense atmosphere and a mystery that the party will unfortunately have to solve if they want to leave Samsa VI intact. After landing, you'll have the opportunity to suffer the worst horror imaginable to humanity, while trying to repair the base under pressure. As with Alien, something is really really wrong, and it's up to you to fix it. I'll use ambient music to ramp up the tension. Combat will be mostly theater of the mind (as Mothership is prone to that), but i could procure battlemaps if needed. I'll let you know during session zero.

Homebrew rules

There is not many homebrew rules i'd follow with this being a starter adventure for newer players.

How Shiv creates a safe table

I have an RPG Consent document you guys will fill out beforehand to clarify if anything is a veil or line to be avoided completely. I do my best to always follow these guidelines by the players without question. We can use DMs on discord for X cards or anything else, if anything arises DURING the session Do know that if you're severily arachnophobic, or triggered by body horror and transformation, this might not be the Adventure for you.
