About the adventure

The Dawnseeker Expeditionary Force is looking for people willing to go first. As a Lancer in its Vanguard, you’ll pilot a powerful mech into unfamiliar territory, protect those traveling behind you, and help open the way for an entire fleet. Whether you’ve joined for adventure, a fresh start, or the chance to do some good, you’ll have a place among people who believe a better future is worth working for. Your fleet is your home, and keeping it thriving is part of the adventure. Through the Lifeblood of the Fleet system, the supplies you recover, specialists you recruit, and improvements you invest in help shape your expedition. Food production, medical support, repair facilities, and research all give you reasons to explore and people to fight for. Between missions, you’ll get to know the community you’re helping build and see your efforts take shape around you. But the unknown holds more than unexplored worlds. Strange discoveries and troubling coincidences suggest that something may be pulling strings beyond your sight. As those threads come together, uncovering what’s behind them could become crucial to the fleet’s future. Expect challenging tactical combat, exploration, recurring characters, and decisions that influence your shared journey. Teamwork matters both inside and outside your mechs, with room for friendship, humor, and moments of triumph along the way. New and experienced players are welcome. Join the Dawnseekers and help give meaning to their promise: “For those who come after.”

About me

Aloha! I’m Paka, and Lancer has become one of my favorite tabletop games to run and play. I love its combination of tactical combat, creative mech building, and science-fiction storytelling. As a GM, my goal is to create games where players can experiment with their builds, make meaningful tactical decisions, and see their choices shape the mission and the world around them. My games are combat-focused, but the story still matters. I enjoy creating clear objectives, interesting battlefields, evolving situations, and roleplay decisions that directly affect upcoming encounters. Whether you are carefully optimizing a mech or simply trying something that sounds fun, I want every player to have room to contribute and enjoy their role on the team. A little about me: I’m from Hawaii, and growing up here has made me maʻa, or accustomed, to people from many different cultures and walks of life. Hawaii is a tremendous melting pot, and that has shaped how I approach the table. I value communication, patience, respect, and making sure everyone has a voice. I GM because I genuinely love bringing people together to play. My goal is to provide welcoming, well-prepared Lancer games where pilots can test wild ideas, overcome difficult missions, and leave the table already thinking about their next mech build. Mahalo for your time, and please feel free to contact me about joining a game or arranging a private Lancer session!

Character creation

Creating your character

We’ll begin at License Level 3. Create your pilot and mech in COMP/CON using LANCER’s standard character-creation rules. Official first-party player options are welcome; please ask before using third-party or homebrew content. Build someone who has a reason to join the Dawnseekers and work with their squad. You might be an experienced soldier looking for a cause, an explorer eager to see what’s out there, or someone hoping to start again. Think about what brought you aboard, what you can offer the expedition, and what you hope this journey will mean for you. We’ll use Session 0 to connect the characters, review builds, and establish your place in the fleet. A short backstory is plenty, and I’m happy to help newer players with character creation. Please send me your character details (Share Code or JSON) and a pilot & mech image before the first session so I can prepare everything in Foundry.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You’ll need a computer capable of running Foundry VTT in a browser, a reliable internet connection, a Discord account, and a working microphone. We’ll use Discord for voice chat and group communication, and Foundry for play. I’ll provide access to the game. Before we begin, join the private Discord server, read the campaign information and table expectations, and complete the safety questionnaire. We’ll also check that everyone can connect to Foundry. Come with a character idea and some familiarity with your own abilities. You don’t need to memorize the rulebook or know the setting inside out. Bring questions, a willingness to work with your squad, and an interest in the people sharing your journey.

What Paka brings to the table

I’ll provide a custom LANCER campaign through Foundry VTT, with prepared maps, tactical encounters, character voices, ambient music, and battle tracks. You’ll have a fleet to call home, recurring characters to build relationships with, and opportunities to shape the expedition through the Lifeblood of the Fleet system. I want returning from a mission to feel meaningful: someone is waiting for you, your discoveries have a use, and your work helps the community grow. My combat style emphasizes teamwork, positioning, and completing objectives. Expect encounters that give your builds opportunities to shine while encouraging the squad to solve problems together. I use rules as written as the foundation, with flexibility for reasonable timing mistakes and forgotten abilities when they’re easy to resolve. I’m a newer GM, so patience with occasional rules checks is appreciated. I’ll bring preparation and enthusiasm, and make room for everyone to contribute.

Homebrew rules

The campaign uses LANCER’s standard rules alongside custom missions, enemies, and the Lifeblood of the Fleet system. Lifeblood of the Fleet adds shared resource management and development to your expedition. Recovering supplies, finding people with useful expertise, and choosing improvements can help the fleet meet its needs and expand its capabilities. Your squad will help decide which opportunities to pursue and what to prioritize, connecting your missions to life aboard the fleet. We’ll go over the system together before it affects play. Any additional house rules or homebrew player options will be explained and discussed before use.

Safety

How Paka creates a safe table

We’ll use Session 0 to discuss the campaign’s tone, expectations, and everyone’s boundaries. Players can share Lines and Veils privately beforehand and update them throughout the campaign. Dawnseeker is a hopeful adventure about exploration, community, and taking responsibility for one another. It also includes combat, uncertainty, resource shortages, and an unfolding mystery. Sexual assault, graphic horror, body gore, and the killing of children are excluded. We’ll use an X-Card and a raise-hand or pause signal during play. You can also message me privately about anything uncomfortable. No explanation is required to pause or move past content, and you can step away whenever needed. We’ll take breaks and leave room for a brief check-in after sessions. Everyone deserves space to participate, learn, and enjoy the journey.
