About me

When I was in middle school back in the 1980s, I learned about Dungeons & Dragons. The first version I owned was the red and blue box sets for BECMI. However, since I lived in a small town, I didn't have anyone to play it with. About 6 years ago, I met someone who was playing 5th Edition with a group. After a few sessions playing with them, I started running the games. This was in 2021. I have run 5th Edition games for this group and for my family and friends since then. Also, I learned how to run BECMI and Old-School Essentials games and have run these games for my family.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Working microphone. You should have an account on Discord and DnD Beyond. Both are free.

What Troy brings to the table

I will provide DnD Beyond Maps and shared content through the DnD Beyond campaign. I will provide a link to my Discord server. I tend to stick to Rules as Intended. However, exceptions can be made for interesting homebrew rules or fun and exciting in-game moments.

Homebrew rules

1. I use side initiative (not individual initiative). Initiative is rolled before each round. 2. Hiding goes against the opponent's passive perception. It's not a set DC 15. 3. You can't move through a hostile creatures space unless it is 2 or more sizes larger or smaller than you. You can move through an ally's space at no additional cost.

Safety

How Troy creates a safe table

When you sign up, I will send you a DM. In this DM, I will ask if there are any hard or soft limits of content you want me to be aware of. This list will remain just between the two of us. During Session 0, any questionable content that is appropriate to discuss with the group can be discussed at that time. During any session, a break can be asked for by anyone. A DM can be sent to me at this time to discuss any problematic content and adjustments can be made.
