About the adventure
Young clan apprentices (both warriors and medicine cats) who have been separated from their clan after two-legs (humans) invaded their gathering. Now, the cats must navigate the world and improve their skills if they're ever going to make it home. The goal is to reunite with their clan, but so many things can happen along the way. Your characters may fight rogues, battle the elements, solve puzzles, hunt for food, and search for their way home. This game is set in the lake territories of Warriors series 2 and beyond, in an unspecified future time past the current events in the Warriors books. SkyClan has joined the other four clans, and players are welcome to create SkyClan cats. The setting is a mix of two-leg locations, rural farmland, and wild and untamed forests, with plenty of interesting NPCs to meet along the way (for good or ill).

About me
I've been playing TTRPGs for over 30 years, starting with D&D and then moving into the World of Darkness, and more games than I can count since then! I began writing for a few projects for White Wolf Publishing in 2003, worked on Changeling 20th for Onyx Path, and then wrote, edited, or developed part of every book published for Chill 3rd edition. I've played a lot of games in those decades, too, both for playtesting and for fun. I've even been a part of two Actual Plays (one as a player, one as a GM). I GM'd occasionally during the ensuing years, mostly an assortment of horror games, then Magpie Games published Masks in 2017 and I fell in love and really ramped up my GMing. I've spent the decade since then running Masks for players as young as 10 and as old as "don't ask a lady her age", including a recently completed game that ran for almost five years, with players who started at age 12 and 13; the game ended because they graduated! The Actual Play I GM'd was also Masks, for Dragon Con Goes Virtual in 2020. Masks, Kids on Bikes, Chill, The Magnus Archives, and the Warriors Adventure Game have become my frequent fliers, though I've run one-shots of other games and enjoy PbtA games in general. I love a spooky or unusual narrative, systems that introduce new players to the joy of TTRPGs, and games that lend themselves to both one-shots and long campaigns. Flexibility is key!

Creating your character
30-60 minutes at the beginning of the adventure is allotted for character creation as a group. Characters will begin as warrior or medicine cat apprentices between 6 and 10 moons (months) old. Players can refer to the Warriors Adventure Game (also published as Warriors: Enter the Adventure) for information on Abilities, Skills, and Knacks. PCs will not begin with Knacks, but will gain them during gameplace.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players should download the Warriors Adventure Game character sheet and either print it or put it into an editable PDF program. Players should have a Discord account; access to the game server will be provided.
What Rav brings to the table
This game contains multiple NPCs with distinctive voices, a heavy emphasis on cooperation and roleplay, at least one instance of combat, and opportunities to use the primary Skills from each clan. While most gameplay sticks to the Rules as Written, I also reward players for particularly heartfelt roleplay and for creative or daring decisions that impact the game (Rule of Cool). This game is designed to be a gentle introduction into the world of Warriors and TTRPGs in general.
Homebrew rules
As the original published game predates the addition of SkyClan to the territory, I have added them to this game with a clan-specific +1 to the Jump Skill. For this one-shot, Knacks are not rewarded over time as part of the character aging, but as a response to a character action. Each player should expect for their character to gain a Knack during the course of gameplay.

How Rav creates a safe table
Players will be provided a simple Lines and Veils document upon enrolling in the game. As the game is set within a world designed for middle grades readers and with cat characters, some topics in Lines and Veils will not apply and will already be marked out. Out of bounds topics will be included in our discussion during character creation at the start of the game. Players always have the option to DM me if the game is veering into uncomfortable territory.
