About the adventure

You’re a group of friends who are united by several things. You’re not the most popular, you’re being bullied by Beth and her awful friends, and you want revenge. They’ve hurt you in so many ways, but now, you’ve come up with an idea to hit back. Anonymously, of course. You don’t want to risk their retaliation. But you, as a group, have decided to start digging for their secrets. And once you have those, you can hit them where it hurts. You can blackmail them and, hopefully, bring them down. As for the ‘villains’, Beth is a given. She’s the one in charge of her little posse. But she’s not alone. Her so-called friends always surround her. And to properly hurt them, you will have to go after them as well. The trick is getting to them without getting into trouble yourself. They all have their flaws and weaknesses. It’s just a matter of finding out what it is. But beware, they will be investigating as well and try to find out who you are. For your character, we’ll need a few things, which mostly means a basic description of who they are. Are they the quiet nerd who’s had enough? Are they the former queen bee who was dethroned by Beth? Did they get their love interest taken away by one of those horrible girls? There are so many options, but it’s good to know what it is. And one important aspect of it is how they were wronged so we can weave that in. The only real restrictions on your character is that they should be in school, so everyone will be around sixteen. And very importantly, there won’t be anyone like Ezra around. The setting isn’t in Rosewood, but another similar small town. Canon characters won’t show up so we can have all the creative freedom we could want. Instead, this story happens in Shadyhill. A friendly seaside town that has become a tourist destination for the well to do. Of course, all the usual high school tropes fully apply so put on your black hoodies and get ready to make their lives hell. This game is meant for all levels of experience, from complete beginners to experts who have played a hundred games. What matters is the willingness to tell an interesting story.

About me

Hi! I'm Dirk and I've been GM-ing for around twenty-five years by now and like to think that I've gotten fairly good at it. Like many people, I started playing Dungeons and Dragons (3.0 back then. Just in time for the complains about 3.5. Yes, edition wars are that old). Fairly quickly, I found that some stories are better told with other systems and so, I built up a slightly oversized collection of books and experience with a plethora of systems. I've ran games for groups of friends and also like to run games at conventions and the like. I find that every story should be tailored to the people at the table, whether it's virtual or an actual one. Aside from games, I enjoy painting miniatures, literature, and, of course, cooking and baking. Those however are a little less relevant for online gaming.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will take place during session 0. Naturally, we can discuss concepts beforehand.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

When we have sufficient players, I'll send over a Discord link to a specially made server so we can get this game started and discuss the details. We will have a session zero to make the actual characters which will, of course, be free. The game itself is planned to start on October 8.

What Dirk brings to the table

This game will use the Chronicles of Darkness rules to create a world similar to that of Pretty Little Liars. The characters will form their own A-Team and will be working against the Liars. Finding out their secrets and manipulating and blackmailing them while trying not to be found out themselves. The rules will be there as a guideline because the heart of the story will be the connections between the characters and all the secrets they hold.

Homebrew rules

There will probably be more house rules we will come up with during play to better fit the narrative.

How Dirk creates a safe table

We will discuss in advance whether there are any topics that are to be avoided or treaded lightly around. We will also use X-cards to immediately stop anything that moves into an unwanted direction.
