About the adventure
The year 3000 has begun. And something is wrong with Icarus. King Jason Casteel has been assassinated. Noble houses scheme behind closed doors, old alliances are beginning to fracture, and the gods remain divided by ambition, rivalry, and ancient grudges. Meanwhile, Magic itself is changing. Ancient places are stirring. Strange creatures have begun appearing where they should not exist. Rumours spread faster than truth, and across Icarus there is a growing feeling that something is moving in the darkness. But your story begins somewhere much smaller. You arrive in the town of Marrestfeild looking for simple things: Work. Food. Shelter. Instead, you find yourselves trapped inside. A mysterious sickness is spreading through the town. The local physician is overwhelmed as more patients arrive, strange wounds appear, and some of the afflicted begin to change. What begins as a struggle to survive Marrestfeild will eventually pull you into something far greater. Noble conspiracies. Divided kingdoms. Ancient creatures. Divine schemes. Magic behaving in ways no one understands. And the mystery at the centre of it all: The Phoenix Effect Everything in Icarus is connected to an ancient cycle of life, death, and rebirth. Mortals are part of it. The gods are part of it. Even Icarus itself is part of it. Magic creates, heals, shapes, and transforms. But Magic has an opposite: Chaos. Chaos breaks boundaries, changes the rules, and twists what already exists into something unpredictable. Neither force is inherently good or evil. But the balance between them is beginning to collapse. And if Icarus itself is caught within the cycle of life and death, then perhaps the destruction of the world isn't simply a possibility. Perhaps it has happened before. And perhaps it is about to happen again. Your Characters You are not beginning as legendary heroes chosen by prophecy. You are people living in Icarus. You may have ambitions, responsibilities, secrets, enemies, families, faiths, regrets, or simply a need to earn enough money to eat. For whatever reason, you have come to Marrestfeild. You just happened to arrive at exactly the wrong time. From there, your characters will have the opportunity to become deeply connected to the world, its factions, its people, and eventually the greater mystery surrounding the Phoenix Effect.

Meet the Game Master
About me
I’m a disabled, dyslexic Game Master with 11 years of TTRPG experience as a player and 7 years behind the screen. GMing is my main thing—I specialise in fantasy and supernatural storytelling and love running homebrew worlds (settings of my own creation), while happily stealing inspiration from movies, TV, games, and anything else that sparks a good scene. I’m also a disabled streamer, writer, and amateur voice actor. Writing is a huge part of how I GM: I’m currently working on three stories for my books and three homebrew worlds for my games—one inspired by Vampire: The Masquerade and two for Dungeons & Dragons 5e. I draw a lot of inspiration from video games and different genres, and while books can be harder for me because of dyslexia, I’m powering through with the help of dyslexia aids. At the table, I’ve run everything from 1-on-1 character dramas to big, chaotic 7–8 player parties, in both homebrew campaigns and published modules. I’ve also played and run Pathfinder, Mage: The Awakening, Cyberpunk Red, and more—learning new systems is something I genuinely enjoy, and it helps me bring fresh ideas into my D&D games. Important note: while I stream, I don’t currently stream my D&D games—your table is for the players, not an audience. And yes—I’m an animal lover with two cheeky cats, Niffler and Pixel. You may hear them on stream, see them cause chaos, or even catch them “helping” by appearing at the worst possible moment. My goal is simple: help people discover how fun, emotional, and downright awesome TTRPGs can be, whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned dice goblin. Thanks for reading—welcome to the Story Book!

How Emma creates a safe table
I use consent forms both handed out to individuals to fill out and as a group one will be filled out. we will do lines and veils as a group as well so there is specific things people do not want can be established and to the best of my ability not crossed or faded to black or stated not described and picture not used for that thing depending on how the player wishes it handled. i also run a safe word where upon saying the word "veto" i will stop the scene find out the problem and change the scene on the spot. i also run an open door policy for my players and do my best to make myself avaible to my players when ever i can and if i cant be reached or am busy i will arrange a time with the player and get back to them as soon as possible. i am also happy to hang around after sessions to have a general discussion of anything as long as it is possible for me to do so at which point i am open to group or individual discussion what ever is needed weather it is about the session or not. i also do my best to include a break within my sessions so that people have a chance to go to the bathroom get food and drink and have a chance to general decompress from what has happened so far in the session and possible have general discussions or plan next steps. I use a session 0 template to make sure i cover the following topics group introductions as both players and characters, what happens to characters if players can not make it and when we would run and not run without a full group, date location and time, what people want to establish as player v player rules, what i define as meta gaming and cheating, basic information about food drinks and bathroom breaks during play and also a discussion on alcohol at the table. what expectations are for me at the table and what expectations my players have, sharing the stop light, what langue everyone is happy with, information about the campaign and the split between different types of game play, go over custom rules and impacts of player decisions, books and other things allowed, starting level and alignments as well as character creation if needed.
