About the adventure

๐ŸŒ•โณ๐Ÿ’€ PREMISE ๐Ÿ’€โณ๐ŸŒ• Hubert Nibsley was the most beloved man on this remote island. Wealthy, eccentric, endlessly charitable, a legendary practical joker, and โ€” as it turns out โ€” the kind of wizard who "accidentally" knocks the moon out of orbit while showing off. He died in a tragic, but hilarious accident before he could fix it. Now the sky is getting a little more crowded every night and somewhere in his sprawling, booby-trapped, thoroughly cursed mansion is the spell that caused it โ€” and, hopefully, the one that fixes it. Unfortunately, you are the only ones who can find it. ๐Ÿš๏ธโš™๏ธ๐ŸŽฒ FUNHOUSE DUNGEONS ๐ŸŽฒโš™๏ธ๐Ÿš๏ธ Classic 'funhouse' dungeons are notoriously weird, dangerous puzzle-boxes where traps, monsters, and magical nonsense challenge you to think sideways. Magical Murder Mansion plays the genre straight, but fair. Traps have patterns. Lateral thinking gets rewarded, and the obvious answer is often wrong. Everything can be disarmed, avoided, or seen coming if you look. Thereโ€™s rarely one โ€œcorrectโ€ solution. Make a plausible plan, experiment, and see what happens. The goal isn't to outguess the GM - itโ€™s to figure out how this strange place works. Even the deathtraps should earn a delighted "I can't believe we walked into that" instead of table-wide frustration. In this game: ๐Ÿฐ Go through 80+ rooms, some of which will not try to kill you! ๐Ÿ’ฐ Collect bizarre and wonderful loot to level up! ๐Ÿฅ” Fight Vegetables! ๐Ÿช‘ Fight Furniture! ๐Ÿ’€ Fight the desire to resurrect Nibsley just to kill him again! ๐Ÿ“œ Interpret terrible rhyme. Your life depends on it! โšก Pull the lever marked DO NOT PULL. You know you want to. ๐ŸŒŽ And hopefully... Save the World! ๐ŸŽฒ๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿค– About Our Game ๐Ÿค–๐Ÿ“–๐ŸŽฒ โ˜‘๏ธ We will use D&D 5e 2024. You'll start off at level 3 and make it to 4 or 5, depending on how well you loot the place. If you're a beginner I will happily teach you and if you're a vet, you'll still have fun! I expect this game to last about 4-8 sessions. Everyone is welcome! My goal is a friendly, respectful table where everyone feels comfortable and has fun.

About me

A: I'm a thirty-something man from the Baltics. I've been a huge RPG nerd for, dang, almost two decades now. Iโ€™m not a professional actor, improv guru or a celebrity GM, but I run a pretty good home game! A: It would be nice to be able to justify spending more time on tabletop RPGs by paying my bills with it. A: I really enjoy running prewritten campaigns. It gives me a foundation to work off and lets the players know what to expect from a GM they havenโ€™t played with before. So Iโ€™ll be running various published modules for 5e, Call of Cthulhu, OSR, Pathfinder 2e, etc. It's one of those things where I've been 'mega' online for so long, it just feels weird when people call me anything else, y'know?

Character creation

Creating your character

We'll be using the 2024 rules. Official 2014 material will be considered on case-by-case basis. No other 3rd party content allowed. There will be a few bans like Silvery Barbs (see below in homebrew). Starting Level: Level 3. Stat Generation: You can decide individually if you want to do standard array, point buy or 4d6 drop lowest. Character Tone: Good-natured, heroic characters who work well in a group and want to do the right thing encouraged! If you use D&D Beyond, you can make your character there and I will be able to import your character from there to Foundry.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We'll be using Foundry and Discord so you should be able to use both. (Please test before applying, or message me if you need help with this.) Also, using a headset or headphones+mic will be appreciated by everyone involved. Hearing everyone else echoing on a player's speakers is not fun! It's perfectly fine if you never played before, but if you don't own the D&D 5e rules skim them here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dnd/br-2024

What GM mega brings to the table

I'll set up a game on Foundry, provide a Discord server, provide a personal wiki for information and recaps and share the necessary materials. (I use a Discord bot to record, transcribe and create recaps for your convenience.)

Homebrew rules

Inspiration will be grouped into a single pool that every player can contribute and pull from. This character options are banned: Spells: Silvery Barbs, Conjure Minor Elementals 2024 Subclasses: Twilight Cleric, Peace Cleric, Chronurgy Wizard. (These are 2014 classes, but to re-iterate.)

Safety

How GM mega creates a safe table

We'll do Session 0 and go over character creation, expectations and any topics we might want to avoid (or 'lines and veils' as some people call them). Then we'll start playing if there's time left. The adventure is mostly wacky, over-the-top violence in a goofy, Looney Tunes sort of way. There are plenty of things that can kill you, but the intended tone is ridiculous rather than grim or disturbing.
